Juvy and I will be stopping in Chilhowie on Thursday night then ride on in to Staunton on Friday.

Wayne, or Brian, or anyone else who knows....Can you give me a nice "Non-Interstate" route to Staunton from Chilhowie? I would like Juvy to see some of the beautiful valley scenery in that area. I can pick roads off the map, but just thought you guys might have some especially pretty places to ride through on the way up. Coming home on Sunday will be more of a slab dash south.
Phil, I have a suggestion (map) for you. I'll send it tonight when I get back to my computer.

Thanks Jeff--I have the hardware so if you can spare one or both I could certainly use them.

Thanks!

We're going to have some routes planned but it's kinda the old fashioned way. My gps is old and doesn't have downloadable routes but possibly some of the other fellas have the stuff you need. Look forward to seeing you two!!

I put together a couple of routes. I'll bring some printed copies. If I can figure out how to post them so you can download them to your GPS, I'll do that to. They are built in Garmin Basecamp which I'm still learning.

The Bike/Truck Nuvi-52LM is programmed and ready to go this Thursday morning. I just need to wash-n-wax the bike and maybe the truck too. My GS-911 diagnostic will be there to check or reset BMW trouble codes after the day's rides are over.

It's pretty cool that you can see the satellite close-up view of our HoJo Motel. I used that to see what the parking situation looked like. There also appears to be a smaller bus parking lot across the side street where the bike trailer guys can park with the trailer attached. A Google Earth address inquiry shows that the motel is a large, older 4 story building with a big parking lot out front . . . . but from the Motel link:

http://www.hojo.com/hotels/virginia/sta ... 025=c&026=

Select "Maps & Directions", click on the "Aerial" tab and tap the + icon to zoom in. Like most of the attendees, I love to eat big after a big ride. For those times not covered by our group dinners, that's a Hardees across the street and there's a Domino's Pizza a short walk away at the Pump street intersection. I'll be seeing the Thursday evening members after 6:30 or so. Drive/Ride safely my friends.

Routes? We don't need no stinking routes! 250 into WV, then pick a road, any road!

Vince and I are meeting up Thursday evening, riding in on Friday via a rather indirect route! I have stopped at Paint Bank many times, never eaten there. We (well me actually but he coming along!) might aim for lunch there before wandering around some more in route to the motel. We should be there in time for dinner Friday evening!

I want to let everyone know----a local restaurant is expecting us for breakfast Saturday morning. I told them 8-8:30 and told them to expect 40 or so. They have the room but we're gonna take most of it! Also the very best place in the valley (my opinion and most of Staunton) for breakfast.

8 am for breakfast? That is more like second breakfast.

Vann,
I am planning on 250 being the final part of our journey down.

I'm leaving Wednesday around 11:00. Heading back on Sunday.
The routes are for the newbies to the area that might want something more than Rt 250 and not end up deep in coal country hours from nowhere. If you add 250, 33, 28, 66, 150, 29, 42, 219, 60, 252 and 220, the sum is loads of twisted fun!
