Can I Use a Battery Quick Connect to Charge Phone?

Post by skylarmav1 »

So I had a USB converter hooked up to my 02 1150r through the power plug. The converter was low budget and died pretty quickly.

I saw a Quick Connect to battery as a good replacement idea since I have one of those attached for ongoing battery charging. If I only charge phone while riding with engine on, will I be OK with not draining battery?

Thanks in advance guys for your help!

Best way to do it is a proper relayed connection - will allow power to the phone and will charge it quicker.

not sure what 'Quick Connect' you're talking about?

Try a powerlet adapter for your accessory socket.

That is what I had-although a cheaper version. My thought was if I get a charger that I'll interface with my quick disconnect from my batterty charger-so it would directly attached to battery. However I'm not sure if there is a relay in it-to Rice's point.

There's not enough current involved to require a relay. That powerlet adapter looks good. Years ago, I had a powerlet-to-cigarette-lighter adapter, then plugged a car lighter charger into that. Worked fine.

i have a powerlet to regular 12v converter...Where I plug in my radar detector. in turn, its 12v connector has a usb socket on it, with which I have a wire to charge my iphone.

personal disclaimer: the phone charger can get wet, so check before plugging your shiny new iphone 6 into it. :( We think that's what killed it

anyways, besides that, this setup works just fine.
