I recently purchased a 2004 R1150R.
I Was surprised to find so much space taken up by an analog clock on the cluster. I was also trying to figure out how I could install a USB port to charge my phone and a voltage display to monitor charging/charge. I tried messing with the stock portlet or going straight to the battery but decided this would be a cleaner install. The nice thing about it is that the wires are already ran to the clock hole and I just used the existing electrical end connectors. I milled and lathed down a 1/2 inch piece of aluminum to fit for the face and hooked up the wires as well as removed the extra light bulb that went to the clock. Seems to be working well so far and all stock wiring/ends are there for an easy swap back to the clock if need be.
Just wanted to show the group if anyone was thinking about doing something similar. Probably a couple hours creating the front plate and then 10 minute install. A note on the picture, the voltage doesn't show correctly because of the refresh rate of the LCD and the camera but it does display correctly in the wild.

Nice clean job. But I do have to say, I really like having the analog clock!

Re: Clock replacement on cluster
looks neat but I too need a clock for all the bus lanes and times in London. Otherwise I'd quite fancy that

Nice job. I do see one problem though..............you need to ride that bike more. Not many miles on the odometer!

I also must admit it really was made for that hole and looks very well made but the analog clock would be more important to me as someone else said above for bus lanes.

Nice work!
I am in agreement with preferring the analog Clock, Battery drain and all.
It seems the older I get the more I enjoy retro objects.

Ha I lucked out on the bike in that I just purchased it so I'm thinking the lower miles is a plus and I've already added about 1,500 miles in the last month. About 10% of the miles it has had put on it for its whole life so those miles will catch up to the age of the bike real quick.
After adding a ram mount for my cell phone I've found it works just fine for keeping track of time with the added bonus that I can have GPS turn by turn directions up without killing the phone battery now.
Although in the end the whole process was to make sure I can just pop the stock clock back in if/when I want to put it back in there.
