2006 R1150R
I just saw a pic of the 2006 R1150R in the MOA magazine. It has the same paint design as the yellow jacket and dark ferro, but the colors look like the same ones on the HP2(silver/blue).
I will scan a pic in later.

Hey, I wanted to be the bearer of '06 news around here! what the heck am I paying BMWMOA for if I can't get a scoop posted now and then? I don't do rallys...well, I'm going to try one this year.
I still think when BMW gets around to making a hexhead R1200R, it's going to be an HP2 with a telelever and a squatty beak. The Great Karnak has spoken.
If'n they don't, I'm going to get in line for an HP2, screw it.

HP2
I just like the looks of the thing, and the fact they've really gotten serious about making it as lightweight as possible. Unload those knobbie tires and slide on some regular skins (if you can find something for that front wheel...maybe some choppers use 21" tire that are decent?) and this thing will be a lot of street bike.
The price is outrageous. No debate there. But it follows a time tested formula, you want maximum performance, with less weight, the price for engineering that adds up fast.

*Maybe the 1150 engine will live on amidst the 1200s in the R1150R for several years like the 1100 engine lived on in the R1100S.*
Very likely, actually. They just announced a new R1150GS Adventure 25th anniversary model. They expand their model line up not with new throw away models every 3 years like the Japanese did during the 80's and 90's, but by slowly expanding the line up to include both brand new engine designs and older, proven engine designs. This gives them margin plus some models in the line up that are less expensive than others, thus luring in buyers that are bargain hunters.
