I used to be able to justify these rules. they don't seem to make much sense anymore, except the minivan one. Currently I drive a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo. I am an American muscle car fan. They were great in the 60's and early 70's, now they are mostly crap.

That's the long and short of it. Until very recently, if you wanted to buy an American car, you'd better like FWD and automatic. That's not my cup of tea, so I defected. Maybe someday, an American company will start making a quality, AWD, and fun car. My bet is on Dodge, since they're really Mercedes now.

You could always cheat and get a BMW, Toytoa, Honda, or Hyundai. They're made in the USA now too! The only difference is whether the rich head of the company is in Detroit or Japan or Germany.

I just got my '74 Mercedes SL ( same car I took my drivers test in) back from Loriser with a fresh supercharged 5.7L engine and oversized brakes. Since it only get @ 8-10 miles per gallon I only drive it to church ( the local pub).

Currently a 2001 Nissan Xterra and a 2002 Audi S4 - actually my wife's. Have just started seriously looking at selling the Audi and and getting a Prius for her 1.5 mile commute. Makes a lot of sense. I too have had a lot of practical cars, just not a Subaru, so I feel like an outsider here. Since I began riding five years ago, cars have lost much of their allure. But I actually mixed in a few fun cars over the years and last year sold my favorite car of all time, a Honda S-2000 - until I consider my MGB of 25 years ago, which was EXACTLY the same, except that it had one quarter the horsepower, but I somehow am convinced they drove exactly the same, at least in my mind.

Bought my Colorado in May 2004. Finally put 3,600 miles on it, mainly to blow out any cobwebs and keep the tires from getting flat spots.

I've got a Ford Ranger pick-up right now. Just a regular, 2WD, 4-cylinder, manual transmisison, standard cab, standard bed pick up. Got the XLT package, though. And it's been great. 33mpg on the highway, if you can believe it. Maybe 23mpg around town but an overall average of 27mpg. I bought it only because I need a truck right now but it's been a great all-around vehicle for commuting and like when I can't use the bike. My previous vehicle was a Subaru WRX wagon and a Ford ZX2 sport coupe before that. My next four-wheeled vehicle will probably be another car - but I'm not sure what. There's not a whole lot that appeals to me. Especially when I'd want a sporty two-door for under 25K.

I've got a 2001 Honda Accord LX with only 50k on it. I only use the cage for long-distance trips that require carrying people or more stuff than I can strap to the Roadster or the Weestrom. Still have lotsa tread on the summer tires, so the cage gets nearly ALL of its use in the winter, when the roads get too icy to ride. At this rate, I think the upholstery will rot and fall apart before the drivetrain does.

The wife drives a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara XL-7 with 56,000 miles on it and never a problem. I just picked up a 2005 Acura TSX with the 6 speed manual transmission and the navigation system. Like it very much. 90 miles per hour is so easy to do within the Acura. Would like to get an old Beetle for kicks when I have the chance.

Besides my Moto Guzzi 1000 S, Triumph Bonneville Thruxton and Triumph Speed Four (which is for sale) I drive a silver 2003 Subaru Impreza RS sedan and my wife has a white 2003 Subaru Legacy SE wagon. We like the fact that they are "boxer-4's".

Like some others on the board, used to be into cars more. That is until I started riding. I had a 91 MR2 Turbo, and a 98 Ford Taurus SHO. Now I drive my wife's 94 Accord LX with 177K, and geting 34-36 mpg. Couldn''t be happier. Because if don't feel like being Beige, I got the Rockster! Thought I would miss the MR2 after I sold it, but getting 43mpg while dusting off sports cars cleared that up quickly!
