Am I the only one ... ?

Post by priapismic »

... who has noticed what a different bike my R is on cool mornings? At anything about 60 degrees F or below, my Roadster just takes on a different personality. She's got way more pep, more snap when I whack the throttle open, it evens vibrates far less. Hours later, after the temps have warmed things up to above about 75 degrees F or so, the bike vibrates more, and seems, well, if not downright sluggish, then at least far less peppy than it does on those cold mornings. The bike just really seems to love those chilly mornings. Anybody else notice this? Or does my bike have a state-of-tune anomaly?

I'd have to agree, although I don't think the difference is quite as startling with mine.

You are not dreaming. I LOVE sunny, 50 degree days.

I had mentioned this before, but every German vehicle I have owned has performed better in colder weather. That includes 3 VW's, 1 Porsche 911, and 1 Audi A6, along with the Beemer. (Well, technically, one of those VW's was made in Pennsylvania.)

The American cars seem to be the same, hot or cold.

Odd.

and rides like a pig full of slop on 100 degree sweltering days!

You're not the only one. My R seems to be much smoother and more responsive in cool (less than 50F) weather. Don't really notice any difference in power, just an overall "better" feel than at higher temps.

the bike loves but I in the other hand I dont! I skip and backfire and actually run so lean is not funny. I need jump starts at least 4x a day once the temp goes below 70deg. I try everything, coffe, tea, vodka and nothing seems to work.
