Hey DJ, what is the car/truck/el camino-looking vehicle in the first shot of the Daily Planet? It's black w/a car front/truck bed..... very interesting.
Daily Planet looks like it might be very news-worthy, eh wot?

It's a GMH, Commodore utility, colloquially known as a "ute".
usually used as a work vehicle, but some of them these days are quite flash.

I believe Oz sends the sedan version to the USA badged as a Pontiac???

here's one... http://www.the-rumbler.com/VHRS2k5/IMG_2093.jpg

GM used to make a thing called an "El Camino" - same exact config - car in front, bed in back. Began to die during the gas crunch of the late '70s and didn't make it through the '80s. I'm surprised they didn't revive it here in the US. Thx for the pic.

That thing would never last in America, with all of the oversized SUV's and super-65000-HD-V12-superdiesel-family-size-pickup-trucks!

Maybe Dodge will make some Magnum/Charger version of it, they haven't had a shot at the car-pickup yet.

The great Aussie ute...(pronounced ute like beaut or boot with a u instead of a b.)..many of my friends have them.

They even race them in their own class.

Here's a few more pics.

That SS is sweeeeet. They'd sell fine here in Texas. Although they'd have to put in a 7.4 liter V8 and put 200lb sandbags in the back to get any traction...... A sport-utility if I've ever seen one - sport in front, utility in back. Here's my version of that...... (the silver one - the orange one has exactly ZERO utility)
