Not to hijack whatsoever from your great looking bike, but I like the chrome front cover on these engines, it really cleans up the looks I feel.

Randy,
Beautiful. Truly - you've created Functional Art.
Let's chat a couple years from now about a commission to create my own version of oilhead artwork!

funny on how alot of the guys here who were vehemently 'anti-cruiser' are loving this bike cause it has bmw genetics.
as a man who learned to ride on harleys, and always associated with harleys and other american cruiser-esque types, I simply LOVE this bike.
Randy, my father saw your bike and he hasn't stopped telling me how much he 'f*&king LOVEs that bike!!!'
He said to me, 'let's do that to yours.'
what? ruin my perfectly lovely roadster? I said, no, but let's source a powertrain and do it.
He's now looking for late model oilheads to get a project going. He mentioned he would love to see the bike when he's out in california. he goes there for business usually every 6 weeks. he wants to see if you would want to do another project.
Good going Randy.

I have most of my DMV stuff done, except the CHP inspection which will be done on Tuesday. After they verify my numbers, I will take my paperwork back to DMV and they will issue a plate.DJ Downunder wrote:Hey Randy...will you have any trouble getting it passed for registration and licence plates...and what plates...anything in mind (personalized plates??)
DJ
I'm thinking of a personalized plate that says: BMWCHOP (thanks Scott )
Thanks for all the comments guys...I appreciate it

I changed the shock mount which raised the ride height to the right level. It sure was easier to cut and weld on this thing before it was finished and painted!!
I did a run to my local BMW dealer yesterday afternoon. They had been asking to see it and when I pulled up some of the mechanics and service guys came out and gave me a round of applause. Felt pretty good that they appreciated it
The ride (the back way) was about 50 miles and I stopped about half way to make sure nothing was leaking or falling off. It was kind of silly for me to take off on a first long ride with no tools but...I didn't need them anyway.
The sound is great!! The baffles I made work good. The bike tracks absolutely straight with no PTTR or PTTL.
Results of the ride:
1. adjust the clutch (slips a little on hard acceleration)
2. lower the rear spring tension(ride was a little too stiff)
3. get this motor broken in so I can get it on!
Items 1 and 2 are complete...I'm working on 3.
