As usual, I'm late to things but would realy like to finally get to a Bash - and this one's even in my home state.
Scotty - not sure if there are any rooms left or if you have enough folks to look into other lodging arrangements. I'm sure you'll post something but feel free to PM or e-mail me. I'll also contact Tony T and Steve (OU812) to see if one of them is still looking to split a room.

Thanks Scotty, I was going to get in touch with you today to get that info.

RE: breakfast. I'm in for 4 people for Fri & Sat. Should I mention this to Rose?

My friends wife will probably be willing to try your green tea, the rest of us are more traditional, thank you anyway :)

OK guys/gals, call in your reservations please. I will call the hotel later today to make sure room assignments are correct, so don't worry if you forgot where you are or forgot to tell them. Just make sure you say when you're arriving and when you're leaving AND what days you want breakfast.

I will post a poll in another post for the breakfast time.

ok guys...almost all set. johnnnyjs, beemeridian, and RB are the only ones they don't have a deposit from. if this is incorrect, just give them a ring so it's all straightened out.

Also, is everybody coming in Thursday except for beemeridian and towerworker who are coming in wednesday???

sweet. also, if anybody has a spare spot in their room, challey is looking for a bed.

L’BEAKSTER BASH ‘08

Post by STDocLizard1 »

Bash HQ: Central Park Hotel
976 Central Road
Benton, Pa. 17814
(570) 925-6650
Host: Rose Bardo

The small hamlet of Central lies in a peaceful valley nestled in the hills of central Pennsylvania along a small stream called Fishing Creek. It lies in Columbia County which is the “Gateway to the Game Lands.” This is area is frequented by outdoorsmen as a hunting and fishing paradise. You will appreciate the stuffed and mounted specimens on the walls when you see them. The Hotel itself is a sportsman’s haven which supports the local area with a restaurant in addition to lodging. The main building is now over a century old.

The accommodations are provincial, but not primitive. Indoor plumbing and rolled toilet tissue are standard. Cell phone service can be sketchy due to the terrain and internet reception is questionable. This quiet retreat has very good cuisine with daily specials, a bar on the premises, and a package goods cooler for takeout. Don’t expect a European beer selection. They are open for lunch and dinner. On site breakfast will depend on the number of people who sign-up as mentioned in earlier posts.

I anticipate that the majority of riders will arrive on Thursday, (5/15), ride Friday and Saturday, then depart on Sunday. A couple of loops will be suggested for your riding pleasure with the primary focus on a run over to the Grand Canyon. The Keystone State provides an exceptional selection of roads. Our main objective is to enjoy each others company and get out on the road.

Make no mistake; this is a remote outpost in the boonies. Wildlife is abundant and it is not unusual to see bear and elk as well as deer and the usual small game. It is unusual to see carcasses along the road due to natural predators, but animal strikes do occur despite the fact that they have plenty of room to roam. Be ever vigilant in your travels.

In future posts, we will address other issues such as attractions, local services, day rides, and approach routes. Stay tuned.

Jim
