Wet Clutch !

After a a couple Clutch bleeds I still had some slippage at peak output.
I pulled the starter to check the clutch spline play, it's a 2002 with 11,000 miles.
All good as there is very little play, low miles. I thought it odd that I could not see the spline.

Bad news is there seems to be oil or brake fluid is the clutch area as seen on the starter and inside the housing.

The Beemer does use oil...don't they all. It doesn't seem to be losing brake fluid and the black stuff is quite gooey.
I suppose I could scrap some off and burn it to see if it's oil.
Any thoughts? I need to get this fixed before riding season. Thanks!

Brake fluid is VERY different than engine oil, should be easy to determine which type of fluid.
You can't see the splines from the starter. W /11K there is no way there is a problem with splines, (normal riding use), You may have either a front transmission shaft seal leaking or a rear main engine seal.
First, determine what kind of fluid.

The transmission oil is fairly easy to detect from the smell of gear oil. It doesn’t have any scent.
How would I differentiate motor oil from brake fluid?
I’ve read where owners have spayed brake cleaner in the gap of the clutch plate after the leak repair to clean the clutch plate off.
