Handling issue with worn front Dunlop

Anyone else had this?? Mitzi's current K is on 6,500 (ish) miles and the front tyre (OE Dunlop D220 IIRC) is mostly worn.
The bike is handling VERY oddly at low speeds - it's VERY unstable and is constantly falling off the centre of the tyre.
Is this a tyre thing? Or a peculiarity of the DuoLever forks?? Anyone experienced a similarly wandering front end??
