Hey Guys,

Well, the wife asked me a difficult question today: How often do I wash my riding pants? And my comment, of course, was: well, honey, about as much as any other guy. But I gotta proove it, and need some data to back up my claim.

Guys help me out here. . .how often do you wash your riding pants?

Captain I'm not even going to ask...

I wore mine all season without narry a thought of cleaning 'em. Only when I tucked them away for winter did they get a cleaning. But this season I have already washed mine twice. More because of the mud and the roadspray I pick up after a rain versus the crushed bug guts. Aren't the bugs badges of honour?

Funny

Y'know, I had just come to the conclusion that the 'Stich was going to have to be washed for the first time in 3 years.

Then I spent last Saturday riding most of the day in (sometimes driving) rain and now the issue's moot!

Better question is whether or not I'll wash the GS this year...

Cheers,

I wash my Firstgear HT Overpants and Mesh pants once a season.
I try real hard not to "soil" them and the bugs don't bother me.
The HT's were getting a bit gamey though...
On the other hand, I wash my Arai, inside & out twice a year. If anyone is not washing their helmet they really should, to extend the useful life of the helmet, but I guess that should be for another thread.

My tan BMW Summer riding pants pick up road grime, and pretty much last one ride before they need a washing. If they aren't dirty I'll wear them two or three rides, but they usually have road dirt, especially around the bottom of the legs.

My BMW Venting Machine pants don't hold odor or show dirt as much. I have washed them about 3 times in about the 2500 or so riding miles I have had them.

In winter I wear First Gear HT overpants, and those are black and usually don't need washing until the end of the season, unless they become stained with bugs, tomato sauce, mustard, or a combination of the three....

I wear chaps, and wash them whenever they look more yellow then black.

I wear reasonably thick denim. So, I wind up washing them after two days of wear... Other than that, it's leather jacket and boots along with full-faced helmet. I have yet to wash the jacket since leather doesn't smell up easily, and the helmet gets washed on average twice a year via hand.

I thought not washing your riding pants was a great way to prevent theft when you take them off and leave them on your bike.
Mine bark when someone comes near them. :^o

Depends.

I suppose it depends on when you soil them. Or maybe HOW OFTEN you soil them. Depends.

If you are using "Depends", its does not matter as long as you change between.

My PC was down since Friday, but I am up again. . .

I track perfectly with the majority. . .haven't washed my black (that's why I got that color) BMW summer pants yet since I bought 'em, oh, several months ago. But I do use a damp cloth to scrape off the bugs. Might be time now to throw 'em in the wash.

Ah yes, thanks to you guys, now I can speak with data (someone important said that once. . .who originally said that anyway?).

Thanks,
