UK 2010 Rockster meetup

Post by riceburner »

Ok - I'd like to do another Rockster gathering this year, sometime in the summer (more than likely), I'm thinking a lunch time meet somewhere as convenient/pleasant as possible for anyone interested to come and on a weekend.

I'm thinking the best "area" to meet up in would be somewhere between Oxford & Banbury areas - simply because it's fairly near the middle of the country, and a reasonable distance for all (I'm guessing here) - but if only those in London are interested... we'll do it in/near London. ;)

Who would be interested?

I’m just outside Banbury so it would be rude not to attend. Weekend\Day Ride\Meet for lunch is all fine by me. I could look to put together a route if required. Sounds good to me :D

I've only just joined and found this thread as a bit of good fortune. I'm in South Wales so Leicester is a big distance for me, but if you were further West (Birmingham sounds better), I'd think about a weekend away with my wife and throw a meet in for good measure.

Have not looked at the board for more than a month.

Bike is not in use and rotting away slowly in the garage, needs love and elbow grease 1st.
On top of everything I am going to be moving house (+60 miles to reach Oxfordshire).

But hey - must go to my 1st bike meeting!

Riceburner - please can you PM me once things get closer (like 6 weeks before the event)?

Cheers

sounds good to me as well - based in Warwick so would have a lie in if held at Banbury only 25 miles down the road.

Looks like the Banbury area is going to be a good bet from the replies so far.

(I'll be coming from South London btw).

Anyone have any preference for when? I was thinking a Sunday Lunch meet maybe June/July time?

Looking good so far. :)

Alf - could you recommend a decent pub somewhere in the area for the meet (if you know the area well). Must do good food and welcome bikes. :)
Cheers!

Sorry - no decisions yet! I'm afraid I'm having to move house in July, so my time is totally taken up until after that (about mid-july) - will have to see about doing something in August maybe? (oh the horror.... ;) )

Afraid that I’ve only just checked this thread. More than happy to arrange a meet point, camping, pubs, roads whatever:) RB: I’ll PM you.

Right -

Can I have a show of Hands (metaphorically speaking) for those who would be up for:

1) The Meet occurs on a SATURDAY late lunchtime, and we turn it into a Saturday overnight Camping event (ie we book some places at a campsite, preferably spitting distance from a good pub, meet daytrippers at the pub and then carry on after they're dragged away by familial duties)

OR

2) The Meet occurs on a SUNDAY mid-lunchtime at a suitable establishment, and we make it a couple of hours, then everyone goes home.

Please post below stating which would be preferable to you, and things will start to be arranged. :) As for dates - I'm thinking one of the first 3 weekends in August will probably be most suitable - any preferences, again - please post.

( IF the concensus appears to be for 2) I will probably do a saturday camp anyway, I'll just pitch up late afternoon rather than making a complete weekend of it. Anyone wishing to do the same will be welcome to join me, natch. :) )
