Fuel Filter Hose Clamps

Before I found this site I replaced the fuel filter on my 1150RT, but did not use fuel injection hose clamps for the filter. Used the regular worm screw type. So the question is, have I set myself up for failure on the road somewhere and do I need to replace the clamps I used with the fuel injection type??
I probably already know the answer, but I guess I just need to hear it from a third party. I really do not want to take the fuel filter out again for another 24K.

Thanks,
Tracy

I did the same thing about 5 years ago and they are still ok. The original clamp let go on Route 95 - engine died and I coasted to the breakdown lane. Not sure how many miles I've traveled since.

the FI specific hoses are probably stronger because they are not fenestrated and the clamp is stronger because of the different design.

The hose type clamps ... I have not seen a stated reason why NOT to use them, only the admonition not to, but those fuel lines are under a LOT of pressure and it would seem that anything that might stress the tubing would be a bad idea, like the fenestrations, like the worm clamp.

If you do decide to switch them out for the FI clamps, make sure you get the right size for the 5/16 fuel lines. If you go just a little bit too big, like the next size up, they will leak.

There are different quality worm clamps as well. If your used good ones you'll probably be OK.
If you used junk ones it won't be long.........
It's not that big of a job. Better safe than sorry, do it again.
Ride safe.

Using the proper type of clamp is as important as say.................using the proper type and grade of antifreeze in our R's.

Thanks for the input. I will get the correct clamps and change them out after I get the gas run down. This was my first time getting into the fuel pump/filter and it probably will go a little easier next time. Maybe it will motivate me into getting the supplies to do a brake fluid/clutch fluid change since I will have the tank off again instead of taking it into the dealer.
