I was thinking about him too. I did a google search yesterday or the day before.

May not be appropriate but in this case I would assume that no news is bad news ... very bad news ...

It is so sad to see people get lost during some sort of hiking adventure. I once had a group of mountain-bikers in Nepal somewhere in the himalayas. One rider stayed a little behind because he apparently had a mechanical problem - he disappeared and was never found. It was suspected that he may have fallen into some river gorge.

There is no news update on Mike. But omg1010, I can assure you of all the likely scenerios (medical issue, accident, etc.), Mike getting lost was not considered an option! The man knew his way around with a map!

Not many days go by without some thought of Cam. I still look for 'secret roads' to share with him. It was a tough task to find a backroad he had not been on!

This mystery needs a happy ending. I would be happy if he just bailed on his life and started a new.

I didn't know Mike all that well, like Vann and others did, but "getting lost" just doesn't ring true.

Steve, so you are suggesting that Mike pulled a season-ending Jack Bauer disappearance trick? (my wife has been getting the series 24 on netflix... )
The idea of that gave me my first smile regarding Mike's disappearance.

I call it wishful thinking.

Yeah, recently dug up some old topics where Mike's input was - as always - considered, concise, considerate, valuable. He is missed here.

agree, only met him once on a ride years ago and seemed like a great guy. I know his case was also posted on WV and VA riding threads on ADVrider but not seen any updates. Really feel for his family and friends.

There is nothing new to report. There has been no trace of Mike since May, 2011.

I just read this thread today. I have been out of touch with this site for most of the past year, reconnecting recently. Even though I did not know MikeCam, I know many of you (whether in person or from on-line exchanges). Reading this reminds me just how fragile and uncertain life can be. More importantly, it reminds me of what excellent people the members of this site are. Mike and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Again, about a year ago, but my thoughts are with his family.

I think he is out there on some island enjoying a cold drink. Hope he is alive and well.

The likelihood of that scenario is less than slim. Sad though.

Crap - I met Mike during an early Bash. He mailed me a battery tender several years back. Did they ever find him?

No trace was ever found that I know of. Hoping to see you at the Bash, Yong.

I think I saw him in the Philippines in January...but I could be mistaken.

Has there been any update on your father? I check the news occasionally to see. I was at your father's wedding and remember both you and your sister. My father often went caving with your dad and he was a family friend.

This popped up in my news feed at Facebook today as one of my memories. We were just discussing this visit last weekend at Hungry Mother as we reminisced about Mike while sipping brandy under a tarp as it rained.

Hard to accept this.
