Dallas International Motorcycle Show - BMW a No Show

My wife and I went to the International Motorcycle Show yesterday in Dallas. I was surprised to find that BMW was not represented. Most other major manufacturers were there, but no BMW.

Do they typically attend those kinds of events?

In any case, it was a pretty good show. We spent a lot of time looking for bikes that fit my wife's stature (she's 5'4"). She currently rides a Suzuki M50, which we've updated a bit to bring the bars back. It does fine except on the highway above 70. So we were looking for cruisers with a 6th gear (so far we've not found a non-cruiser that allows her to flat-foot). She liked the Triumph Thunderbird and the Harley Softails.

I also saw the new Triumph Explorer, which looks pretty good. I'm not an off-road guy, but the rep told me there would be an update to the Tiger 1050 using that 1200 engine "soon". That should be a nice bike.

I also saw the new Ducati MTS1200 with that new gray color. Don't totally care for it, would rather have red or white.

Also saw some Nortons almost as old as mine (Commandos mostly) and then the new 961 or whatever it is.

Anyway, a good time. So many great bikes. I love just looking at them.

Some manufacturers signed up for the entire tour, some didn't.

BMW signed up for Long Beach CA and New York.

BMW has not been to the last three in D.C. I do love going for the fact that you see all the new models in one place. Apparently the cost for a spot in those shows is very high....so BMW does not attend all of them for cost reasons.

What the hey ? I see BMW won't be in Seattle either. Maybe I won't go this year. Seems like they tend to skip the rallys too.

I was shocked to see how small the dallas show was too.
And no BMW to sit on and play with...WTF?
I guess vendors didn't sell enough last year to bother signing up.
I was headed there with a Piaa on my cmas list for myself and no light vendors.
Lousy cold rainy weather left lots of space the bike parking lot.
