bike no start no more
have any of you folks ever hit the start button and just heard a clunk and all your dash lights go out,the starter not work, and it seem just like a blown main fuse? I realise in their wisdom BMW have gotten rid of the main fuse idea...but what else could do this on an R 1150 RT , 2004 ? thx Jamie

Charge the battery and have it load tested. The boxer engine's starter places high demands on the battery. If the battery is not in top shape, you'll have difficulty.
If the battery checks OK, I would remove the starter and clean the helix/shaft and lube it lightly. Also, some BMW starters have been known to shed their magnets (they are glued to the starter housing. The BMW starter can be repaired so, contemplate replacement ($$$s) only after looking into repairs.
