Anyone ever do this? Looks like quite an event and desirable in an artistic and cosmic and prurient and adventurous way. It also looks like quite an ordeal to accomplish!
What's not to like? This event has caught my eye for years, but my window of opp is starting to think about closing.
It coincided with Hurricane Isaac this year so how much harder could it be?
Have you done it? 60k people there this year; 50k last.
If you don't know, this will get you started

Never been, but the event is renowned in west coast circles.
During the past week, I saw several vehicles (most with trailers) returning home from Burning Man, heading north on Interstate 5. An accumulation of dry lake bed dust, decorated bicycles in pickups, and hung-over, sunburned partygoers were the clues.

Have thought about this myself ... having met/known many burners over the years. Your bike would definitely need to have stuff "taped up" for all of the sand, etc. Very nasty and corrosive environment.

Re: Anyone ever ride to Burning Man?
I spent some time at a rally with a BM veteran, the stories and pics were off the hook.
It's not an ordinary camping rally, and I would not even attempt it on 2 wheels, or alone.
If a person has strong prejudices about what things an adult can ingest you will be in the minority.
The whiteout sandstorm stories were enough for me to say "no way in heck".
My fat surburban a$$ would surely die there.

Freedom is dangerous. Those in power that steal freedom are more dangerous.

Forgot about the "sandblasted bits" For most, its a trip never forgotten. I would still do this on 2 wheels and alone, however, not on my roadster.sjbmw wrote:I spent some time at a rally with a BM veteran, the stories and pics were off the hook.

Man, you know, you only live once and it looks amazing. It most certainly is NOT for everyone. I wanna.

I may make it in the next couple of years ... like you, it looks like LOTS of fun. If you come out this way, we could meet and go together. I would probably want to do this on a GS style bike, however.Dr. Strangelove wrote:and "shirtc0cking" is illegal.
