Rocker donut

I always replace the rocker donut gasket when I check the tappets - so I buy them 10 at a time.
The new donut gasket I began fitting this afternoon looked like this -
The defect at 12 o'clock would have caused in an impressive oil leak coming out of the spark plug hole which would then blow back onto a foot, a side panel and finally a back tyre. This has already happened to me once before, though that time it was a poorly fitted gasket rather than a poorly formed one.
Moral of the story - before fitting a part have a good look at it.
