Cheapest 80W90 that meets GL5 spec.

Final Drive Fluid
replace every 12K miles, remove drain plug (19mm socket), remove filler plug (6mm
hex), remove metal filings from drain plug by squirting with carb cleaner, install drain
plug with new crush washer, torque to 17 ft.lb (23 Nm), fill with 230cc of gear
oil (to bottom of threads), install filler plug with new crush washer, torque to 17 ft.lb (23
Nm)

http://www.amazon.com/Mobil-104361-UNIT ... +oil+75w90

I found Mobil 1 75w-90 for $15.46 a qt, free shipping.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

I use Castrol Hypoy C in my tranny and final drive after experiencing seal leaks in both using Valvoline gear oil.
Castrol products are widely available in Europe so BMW's seals should be compatible with them.

Oil and fluids are cheap compared to the cost for repairing a transmission or final drive. Do yourself a favor and change your FD and transmission fluid every time you change out your motor oil. Time wise it might add 1/2 an hour but the cost if you do it yourself is minimal. I do this every 5K with my '04 R1150R.

As my R1150R is over 60K miles I change out the FD fluid every 2-2.5K just to keep track of what's going on in the final drive. I do some long cross country trips and being preemptive is cheap at 230 ml per fluid change.

If the difference between a known brand and an unknown oil/fluid is a couple of dollars/pounds/euros. Spend a little extra for the peace of mind.

Should be according to GL5 spec. Thats the most important issue about that oil. You'll find cheap 75W90 GL5 from a number of manufacturers.
