Please.

The only sack I could bear to view would be that gel sack. I'm still reeling about that "wife/girlfriend" conundrum!

Should we start a vasectomy war story thread in Off Topic?

Mike,

Have you decided about bringing your truck down to haul all your stuff?
If there's any way I can help let me know.

Might speak to Doug about a sticky on the main page for a couple of weeks. Might drum up another attendee or two.

Towerworker? YellowJacket? You guys out there?

I'm working on a guy on the board here called "Oneshot".

He lives here in middle Georgia someplace and says he may be interested.

How are the northern/eastern Virginians heading to Marion? Maybe we can meet up somewhere? I'll probably work my way down toward Lynchburg then west, possibly into WV, then southeast. I like coming into the park from the north, on rt16; that's probably the only time we'll get to ride it dry since it's going to rain saturday.

I have a spare 7.5'x7.5' square dome tent that I could bring for anyone who may need shelter. This tent weathered the first two Rain Rides. I could bring this tent with me. You would need your own sleeping gear.

Don't let the lack of camping gear keep you from attending this ride!!!! We can hook you up! Plus, there are hotels in Marion.

Brian,

Show up Friday morning so we can stake our clams to the better sites using extra tents...and bring that spare. If we intimidate the 'other' camper, maybe we can get all 11 sites!

Where's the buzz? Where's the chatter? C'mon! Let's talk!!!

Routes?

1)
I've got a little loop to the Northeast that spurs into Burkes Garden. It's only about 125 miles but might be just right with a late start from a leisurely breakfast. Good mix of curves and lazy country two lane, perfect if (ha ha) this really is another rain ride. No elevensies, no lunch, back in time for an early dinner/supper and lots of BS around the campfire.

2) Traditional loop to the Southwest. We've done that in the wet, and fairly dry. Can extend as much we want.

3) A combo of both, Northeast in the morning, Southwest in the afternoon.

4) Another combo, Northeast in the morning, then a big swoop to the South possibly hitting a little Blue Ridge Parkway (easy Vann, just a little  ) then as much of the Southwest roads as time allows.

Just throwing this out for discussion. Decisions made the day of always trump pre-made plans.

I'm going to try to visit some of the Northeast loop roads this Saturday.

Brian,
I like the idea of the original route from the first year, something that takes us through Mountain City. I'm really itching to ride that route in the dry. Mount Rogers was nice too.

I think I have a good route planned to get there and I may have picked up another person from a local forum.

Barring unforseen circumstances, I will be at Hungry Mother. I may even tempt fate, and not bring any rain gear.

I would love to do the loop from the first year in the dry.

As far as loops, I'm just following. Most of the back roads around there are great. I would't mind doing the rain ride in the dry either! We could get some different pictures besides the one spot where it quit raining and we all took pictures.

And short routes might be good. You know, by the time we stop for 2nd breakfast and 11eses and both lunches and tea! Can't let riding interfere with the Hobbits eating!

(Just kidding - I want to ride! Of course, I don't want to starve either!)

T,

Are you good on directions to HMSP? I-81 and US 11 at Marion Virginia. 3 miles north on VA 16.
