Well, Limited Edition #196 is no more...

Post by Lion_Lady »

Havent been here in a while...
I biffed on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sunday (Mother's Day), near Fancygap, VA.

Image Image

Legal pass went badly, when my friend slowed down, rather than accelerating, when a car appeared in the oncoming lane... I assumed she'd do what my husband would have (add throttle), and whacked my throttle. Suddenly, I was right up on her back and had to react. I yanked my bars left, and went right off the left side of the road. My bike ended up nearly 40' from the road's edge. Totalled. Not rebuilding.

Ive got a fractured left fibula, and right clavicle, plus bruised ribs, and a mild concussion. It could have gone so much worse. I did not rear-end my friend, or encounter any trees or boulders in my agricultural detour. Things should heal cleanly, and i get to go bike shopping again... I have to say that I want another Rockster. That bike fit me so perfectly. We'll see.

Thats terrible, and it sucks, and im sure youre in major pain... but...

you are still here. an irreplaceable edition(you) is more valuable than a "limited" edition.

Ouch. Glad to see you back here, but sorry it's under difficult circumstances.
Best wishes for fast recovery and a low-miles Rockster replacement.

Not so good.

Heal well, glad to see that you're very much aware of what happened - learn from it and get back on soon!

There's still Rocksters out there to be had. :)

BTW - photos don't seem to be showing?

I found my next bike! A 90th Anniversary R1200R, in JAX (seemed appropriate). Heading down next weekend to pick it up.

...My ankle is fine. The collarbone needed a plate, and is doing very well. Went back to work last week.

Good to hear!

Those 90th anniversary R12Rs do look rather nice...

New ride! 90th Anniversary.

I took it for a short spin last weekend (hubby rode it home from Jacksonville, FL). Already got my drop/tipover out of the way. Managed to fall over (forgot the stand was up) with the tank on a pile of straw from lawn patching. No paint scrapes, just a slight mark on the muffler.

LOL I was just looking for the "Like" button on this web page.

Congrats! Back in the saddle again. Perhaps transplant the Edition 80 badge onto 90th Anniversary bike?

Good stuff!

What suit is that?

Olympia "Stealth" (mesh) - bought it for my ride to Denver in August 2009. I'm tall and long limbed so the men's fit me.
Still does the job, though its a bit stained. I don't think you can get all silver like that anymore.

Unfortunately, the Ed 80 ID plate is gone with the salvaged bike. I was able to transfer the license plate from Gryndl to the new ride, however.
