I just trailer'd my bike from MI to AZ and back again without issue. Here's my method.
I wanted the suspension of the bike to do its job so I just used a tie-strap to secure the front tire, then 4 more tie straps to pull the bike slightly downward and forward. I tied on to the telelever arm and rear framework. Not down so tight that the suspension couldn't travel. The straps were far enough forward so that when the bike squats - it doesn't unhook itself. Wooden wheel chocks for a little extra stability.
... anyway 3800 miles without a problem.
The plastic on the engine is to keep any salt spray off the front of the engine - it worked!
One thing that did happen on the trip to AZ was some of the final drive gear oil sloshed out of the breather cap (I assume that's what the black knob is on top of the drive). I just added gear oil when I arrived in AZ. This didn't happen on the return trip to MI. ???

That's an excellent question Ron - I always assumed it was a BMW option when the bike was purchased. I am the third owner of this bike. I'd have to get a closer look for you but at the moment she's tucked away for the winter.ron prior wrote:Nice looking motorcycle...........

I stayed in the valley - northeast of Scottsdale... there's a lot of great riding out there in the Tonto National Forest ... Bartlett Reservoir, Saguaro Lake/Bush Highway, Tortilla Flat. NOW, if I had a GS Adventure I'd be riding the 4-Peaks trail off the 87. I've taken this trail in my Jeep - but it looks like a great run on a bike.AZBMWRIDER wrote:Good looking bike, I've got the same color .

This shot is at the Tom Thumb trail head... & that's Four Peaks in the background...
