Sheathing on electric wire harness from throttle grip near fork ripped open

Not sure how long it's been like this but the sheathing around the electrical harness emanating from the throttle handgrip is torn wide open (the sheathing emanating from the electrical harness on the clutch side is intact).
What's worse is the area where the sheathing is torn is at a point where the handlebar turns within this black iron block where the steering connects to the frame (the upper connection).
I talked to the shop that services the bike and they said it's no cause for concern but I could tape it up if it made me feel more comfortable.
It would so I tried to use electrical tape but there's not enough room the neatly apply the tape.
Has anyone taped this area up and if so what did you use?

i just wrapped mine with electrical tape after inspecting due to a fuel pump not coming on.. eventually turned out to be a plug too loosely fitted after crabbing the frame apart.

make sure you remove those zip ties! theyre the culprit

Many references to this problem on the board.... I've used electrical tape and removed/relocated problematic zip ties. And more recently neatened it up further by wrapping it up with Techflex braided cable sleeving (from Amazon).

Techflex braided cable sleeving is what I'm looking for.
I'll try to find something comparable while at HD this weekend getting other stuff.
If not I'll use amazon, thanks

I have a bunch leftover that I used for re-wrapping my main harnesses - you're welcome to have as much as you need but it may be a little large for the harness up near the grips/controls. I think I know someone else local that may have smaller, but let me check on it. Mine can use re-wrapping too!

I actually just got the perfect sized electrical harness at home depot. It has a split that allows the wires to enter. I'll do it this weekend, should be a 10 minute job if that. Thanks

I had to resheath my '02 in '06. After removing all the old deteriorating sheathing, I wrapped the wires with electrician's tape and stuffed them in looms (it actually took two looms to enclose them all and two on the left-hand side too.) I secured the wires in the looms with small cable ties around the looms every few inches and loosely secured the looms together and to the bike with larger cable ties. No rubbing or over-stretching from lock-to-lock and have had no electrical problems.

That Stebel Nautilus is a great horn, isn't it? I put one under my tank (where the ABS system wasn't) and it is still LOUD!
I didn't think it could fit under the triple tree without hitting the fork bridge in full compression. Guess I was wrong.

Hi John,
PM inbound.
I've got the same thing going on with my '03 R1150R and would be grateful for your leftover Techflex if it isn't already spoken for.
Thanks, Bill

Just can't believe that all those fotos posted by members in the past from their PhotoBucket folder are now invisible unless one pays PhotoBucket's rip-off four-hundred buck extortion charge to "allow 3rd Party Hosting."
Surely there must be some web supervisory authority that can forbid them to change the goalposts like this....
