Mine seemed a little low so I measured it at 38mpg at my last fillup.
Online the reported average seems to be 40, not sure what the manufacturer specs claim.
Has anyone recently measured their mpg?

39mpg. pretty average, on my commute. last tank, was 43, because wife and I took a 100 mile highway trip, and took it slow.

stay out of the throttle, and go a long way without stopping under 70mph, you MIGHT sneak up on 50mpg.

i think, 47 was my best tank, touring.

If I get heavy on the throttle it will get down close to 40. Maybe 38. Running a reasonable pace on the highway or interstate..60-70 I get a pretty reliable 50-52. I've run the Blue ridge Parkway two-up and gotten 56. That was running 89 octane. I actually get better fuel mileage on 89 vs 93. But more spark knock on low rpm and loading the engine.

Depends on the trip I'm taking. But 40 mpg is the all over average. Depends how easy you are on the throttle. It's in your right wrist.
It depends on traffic: city with lot of trafficlights (stopping and accelerating) or out on open road just enjoying the ride, going with the flow. Even my mood, riding hard with a lot of breaking and accelerating or taking it easy. Curvy mountain roads with slowing down and speeding up again. Don't forget the weather. Warm, cold, dry, humid. It all has effect on your engine performance and efficiency.
In short : it's hard to compare. I'm running 95 or even 98 octane.

Just back from a 177 mile loop. Up I-81 about 30 miles, got off onto Rt 11 at New Market (Va), east on 311 to Luray. Hopped on the Skyline Drive back down to Waynesboro and then Rt 250 home. Probably 100+ miles of that was 35-40 mph on the SD. Rest was 25-70.

177 miles and 3.05 gallons (93 octane--no ethanol) 58.03 mpg.

most of my miles are highway since I commute to work on the express lanes and tend to drive after traffic winds down. I use 93 and clock in at 38 mpg. I seem to feel that mileage was better when I first bought the bike.

Around 47mpg. That's UK gallons so just over 39 US mpg.

I average 40 to 42 mpg.

I'm getting around 40mpg in commute mode, and it goes higher on longer rides. The best I've had was 53MPG but that was maintaining a constant 50 MPH on the BRP for a tank full. Lately it's seemed to go down, and I blame ethanol.

Most of my riding lately has been commuting with about half at 60mph and the rest at 35-45 with some stop and go. Tends to get 38-40 mpg consistently.

Last weekend while camping at Hungry Mother (in southwestern VA), a couple of times I did the math I was averaging 45MPG per tank.

Attention BMW Commuters - chip your Boxer in for a Honda "New Concept" 700cc twin if you're in the USA, where the much better 750cc twin seems to be banned. I get between 80 and 90 miles to the gallon riding normally with the usual amount of throttle-wrist. It's half of a Honda "Jazz" car engine and is the most economical and easy-riding high-power motorcycle on the market. Particularly if you go for the six-speed auto / instant-manual-override option without a gear lever and without a clutch lever.
And it's almost as fast and powerful as my Rockster. And the all-Japanese build-quality / finish is better. And it's half the price of a new mainly-Chinese R1200 series BMW bike.
If fuel economy is your priority, ditch the Boxer. Of whatever vintage.....

cannot disagree here. those bikes are misers. Or if you really wanna pinch it, get a Zero.

but i think were all just making sure we're within an acceptable nominal range.
