Should you use Seafoam on these bikes?

Post by MThomas »

Every ten tankfulls or so of gas (in my car) I'll dump a couple Seafoams in there.
Every ten or so oil changes (in my car - 7 qts oil capacity), just before an oil change, I'll dump a Seafoam in the crankcase, run the car for 30-60 minutes, then drain the oil immediately after. It's jet black with dark sludge (this before 3,000 miles on the oil).

Would you do this for your bike (in lesser amounts)?

I've been using Sea Foam on my bike since new. Most every time I fill up, I'll dump an ounce or two in the tank once I get home. No problems but can I attest that Sea Foam kept my bike running happy for over 159,000 miles? Maybe? They should pay me!

Absolutely. Been using seafoam since I bought it. a few ounces every 4-5 tanks.

I have switched to Liquid Performance Ethanol treatment now, to protect my motor from E10 gas, which is the only option where I live.

What about in the crankcase before an oil change?

I remember a post about putting it in the crankcase a while ago......no one on the board at that time had used it in the crank case. I've been using it for years but never in the crank case. It says on the can that you can so it probably would be OK as long as you didn't leave it in there long.

Every 3-4 tankfuls, just a few oz. Just don't use too much.

Be sure to use only the correct amount considering the size of a full tank (5.4 gallons). I remember reading a post some time back where a fella used a full can in his tank. Toasted his engine. Quickly.....
