Re: Tires and Tire pressure
I am sure all of you have seen this umpteen times - but I just got a Rockster - so brand new to this club. I usually go and change all fluid just to be sure and move on from there to the Tires after RTFM (reading the fine manual) and now I am confused - Tire pressure - on the Frame a sticker Front ...

Re: New Rockster Owner with some questions
Gas: 89 octane is fine. There's a green "low fuel light" that will come on when you've got about a gallon of fuel left. The trickiest routine item is checking the oil level. Hmmm. The Ed 80 did not come with a center stand, so the standard "oil level dance" can't be done easily. ...

Re: WHAT PAINT SCHEME?
so do you guys paint it yourselves? I'd like to try my hand at it. I was trying to look into places to buy paint, any suggestions? Well. Hubby has repainted his R65 airhead. He used BMW car colors. You can buy "rattle cans" of all the BMW colors either online or perhaps from your local de...

Re: dust cover?
You might want to re-title this thread. I thought you were asking about a MOTORCYCLE dust cover, not the seal for your fork tubes. An important difference.
Should help get you some responses.

Re: Pssst. The secret to pulling the spark plug wires...
You don't HAVE TO PUSH THE TAB! No "pointy object" (or accurate aim) required. Push on the wire "behind" the connector (just about where the word Pull is in taosports' photo) . The 'tab' is on the wire. Try it!

Re: Pssst. The secret to pulling the spark plug wires...
When you say "behind" do you mean reach behind the wire and push it out toward you away from the cylinder (very little room for fingers) , or do you mean "behind" the connector as in toward the back of the bike? I just tried to reach behind the wire between the cylinder head and...

Re: Just some "ruminations" about engine vibes
Early in my R1150R (Rockster) "career" I experienced the same "buzzing" vibration in both hands and feet... especially with extended highway miles. To the extent of developing a blister on my instep from the 'buffing' action of my sock against my foot. As I recall, the problem se...

Pssst. The secret to pulling the spark plug wires...
out of the stick coil. Its easy. Yes. There is a bit of a 'trick' to it: Remove the cover. With one hand, grasp the wire where it bends toward the engine. About 2-3 inches from the connector. With the other hand, press on the wire just behind the connector. Not much. You need about 1/16 of an inch o...

Hmm. Was the bike still under warranty when you FIRST took it in for service? With so few miles, they should be willing to work with you about the cost. . . just an idea.

Re: Road Kit
Any good shop that makes air or hyd hoses should be able to make you a hose easy. I had a cheepo chinese air comressor. I split the case open and mounted it to the bike but while I had it apart it has a common screw in port where the hose screws into. They were able to make me a good rubber hose wi...

I am seriously intrigued by this US$20 thingy: http://www.stopngo.com/im/products/PQE1-08.jpg Engine Powered Air Pump for Motorcycles - 5 ft Hose with Quick-Release Lever This is the most efficient way to fully re-inflate a motorcycle tire when an air compressor is not available. It converts any 2 ...

Re: Fuel Light?
I'm not sure how the fuel injection system would deal with being ran out of fuel on this bike but I've thought about doing something I've done on my previous bikes. I take the bike out and have spare fuel with me and just ride till it runs out of gas. Record the mileage and knock off 30 miles just ...

Re: Alternating flashing brake warning lights...
Observing Anton Largiader as he did my brake service last month. The ABS/servo system is weird. The fluid in the handlebar reservoir is completely separate from the fluid that is in the ABS unit under the tank. They need to be filled/serviced separately. (I learned from my observation that I'm not c...

Re: Which Bags Fit?
If you remove the muffler, all the BMW "R11--R" hardbags(cases) should fit the OEM luggage rack.(The difference between different models of case seems to the the depth of the lid or outer half.)

Reviving an old thread here... Can anyone provide any further information as to the compatibility of the Sargent rider's saddle with the OE pillion? Looking at a used bike that has just the Sargent front. I've got the Sargent "pilot" seat and the OEM pillion. Have had this set up for over...

Hey Lion- I am wondering if you know what sized/shaped bracket you used to mount the stebel....There are quite a few options at twisted throttle, and I am trying to only order from them once. Thanks! ORDER the bracket??? We bought an angle bracket from Home Depot and used that at the OEM horn...

Re: Surging & poor performance -- Need Help
The plastic connector was broken. Originally thought that just the housing was cracked. Upon closer inspection, it was possible to see that one of the 3 wires inside was broken as well. Wouldn't have known what had happened, except that the lovely tech who was working on my bike actually disconnecte...

Re: Surging & poor performance -- Need Help
My bike had been running like crap for 6 months... Cold starts were tough, but not impossible. Problem: The spark plug wire on the right side cylinder had a broken connector. Replaced the connector and all is well. I had the advantage of access to a box of wiring "spaghetti" and was able t...

Re: Mounting Options for Stebel Nautilus Compact
I pulled the OEM horn and put the SNC in its place. Required minor "garage engineering" of some Home Depot angle brackets to get it to fit. I spray painted the galvanized bare metal of the horn with flat black before installation. The original horn in place: http://forum.motorcycle-usa.com...

I've got a phillips head screwdriver in my tailbag.duckdave wrote:. . . I also like the idea of the turn signal hidey-hole, except that still requires a tool for access, or the use of some destructive forces.
