Re: It was a dark and stormy day...
Great post and nice pics. I'm in Ohio, so a little envious of the riding opportunity. Sorry to hear about the death of a family member. Last year my mother, and one of my sisters, very close to me in age both died. The passing of time really actually helps, but I still miss them and find myself thin...

Re: Is 1150 as comfortable as 1100?
I just picked up a "new 2004 r1150r last weekend, and had my first ride, other than 2 demo rides. It was extremely comfortable, but I can only compare to my f650gs. It probably depends on your height and inseam and torso dimensions too. I'm 5'9" and have no problems flat footing the bike o...

Double Lifer,
Thanks for the very good response--I guess I need visual aids, and those pictures in the link look helpful.

Maintenance Help
I just bought a "new" '04 R1150R and want to do some basic maintenance such as fluid changes and check some of the torque settings. I'm not very mechanical and need diagrams and detailed instructions, and the basic manual doesn't help much. For my F650GS I had a disc with all the data and ...

Re: Winterizing
I'm still new at this but I'd add a few extra things to do. Sparay some wd40 into the exhaust. Oil various places you don't want to rust. Protect the bike from mice--you can hang some moth balls in a couple of obvious places, including where there is some exposed wiring. I've also heard about deflat...

1: trouble finding 1st gear 2: how important is dual spark
I was test driving a 2004 R1150R with 10,500 miles. After starting the bike, I could not find 1st gear from neutral after several attempts. I put it into 2nd, and then found 1st gear. Even after riding awhile, coming to a complete stop, then neutral again, I found it reluctant to go into 1st several...
