Another Oil Question
Board Members - forgive me if this question seems a bit silly, but I'm about to change my oil for the first time on my Rock. The BMW maintenance book allows for several different viscosities of oil. I believe I'll either use 20W50 or 10W40 as they are fairly common. Is there an advantage to using on...

I installed a set of GS handguards on a Rock last week. No problems. I needed a dremel (round file would work as well) to carve out some extra space for the cables (both sides were slightly different) and I also needed a heat gun (old paint stripper I had) to soften the plastic so it would bend to t...

Hey Rockies Rider; I recently installed a Wunderlich sports windscreen on my Rock and I couldn't be happier - I think it actually enhances the look of the bike IMHO :). I dont think the pic's do it justice. I'm now commuting to work and took a ride out to Banff yesterday on the 1A (lots of twisties)...

I'll jump into the discussion here; not because I'll add value, but just because  My first bike just over a year ago was a Yamaha V-Star 1100 cruiser. Whats the significance of that :?: Well, its actually a heavier bike than the Rockster I now own. The balance of a bike is important; so is weig...

Can someone provide their thoughts with respect to what option will provide better protection in a low speed slide situation? I'm torn between adding a set of Stanton head guards or Wunderlich crash bars. The Stantons will be less hassle to install and arguably look better. The Wunderlich's provide ...

Riceburner; for reference, I bought my Rockster (ABS model with all options except panniers) for $11,000 Canadian $ last fall from the local BMW dealer. It was a corporate demo (executives from BMW Canada get to ride them around for a couple of months) with 4,000 kilometres and 2 years warranty/road...

Yeah, I agree. But I still think a rider needs to find a good balance between performance and durability. Frankly, I'm not a good enough rider to be able to feel the minute differences in some of these tires. A tire like the M1, Pirelli or Michelin will work fine for me - providing decent performanc...

Street Tire Evaluation
FYI - in case you didn't see it; the December edition of Sport Rider magazine did a fairly comprehensive test on a number of popular street tires. Testing was done with two different bikes and different riders (Honda CBR 600RR and a Suzuki GSX-R1000) on a 180 mile test loop that incorporated some ci...

Thanksk for the info
Michael, thanks so much for the link. :D The info on TB synching was both humourous and informative. I printed it off for future reference, and also printed off the manual on valve adjustment by the same authors. :) There was a link in the manual for adventuremotogear.com (who apparently import the ...

Is the Twinmax available in Canada or the US?
I was just going through some old threads (always lots of good info for newbie Rockster owners) and found your info on the Twinmax. I was just about to buy a Carbstix, but may now consider a Twinmax. Are they available in Canada or the US?

did you replace the entire light or just the bulb? What did you install? I'd like to go the same route.

 Been there - unfortunately. Pulled into a parkade (parking garage) a few months ago- too early in the morning - obviously still asleep. My parking angle was a bit off and my V Star started to fall to the right. Yup - you guessed it - I forgot to hit the kill switch (because I usually engage t...
