Re: KLR650 or R1150R??
I have experience with both bikes. Its tough because I love both (OK read ALL) bikes, but: 1. The KLR is not a good choice at all if you plan on getting on an Interstate. It does not have touring guts. Oddly enough, you could probably get on a KLR and ride it all the way to Argentina without a probl...

I certainly beleive 150-200k miles is easily reached without a huge repair bill in your future. I own a 1974 BMW with welll over 100,000 miles and put 0ver 200,000 miles on a Paris Dakar with anything goshawful serious happening. I did replace a clutch and some big pieces but I wasn't affluent and I...

Beemeridian: I look at my BMW tech just like I look at the parachute riggers we had in the army. I'm very selective about who I let touch my bike. Its always someone I trust working on something where a failure means pain. So, yep, you better trust the guy with your life. If not, I would look for a ...

Re: K1200 vs R1150R
I1. Speed, I just need more ponies! 2. I feel the R1150R has limits when I ride it hard. 3. On long distances 3,000 miles and up will the K be as good? 4. Mid life crisis is making me do this. Thanks for any advise.
1. Have you ridden a K1200R? There is fast and...

Boxer: I am fortunate that I chose BMW 25 years ago and never looked back. Now no machine is perfect but I have yet to be stranded by an airhead or any of the oilheads I've owned. Now stuff breaks but with this bike I feel I was almost lucky I crashed it. It was checked by what I may consider the ul...

On this trip (to Florida) I rode down 129/219 to get to FLorida. On the way back I took the BRP. It WAS OFF the beaten path. No traffic on both days with weather just like the picture. Does it get better than that? Here's the farkles: Rockster touring windscreen Touring packs (BMW) Cabela's waterpro...

Wow, I tried to post a picture and found out just how computer illiterate I am. Anyway, below is a picture of my rock in "sport touring" mode.
