Re: My battery took a dump today :(

Marcin, I'm not sure an Odyssey PC680 is a good fit for both mechanical and electrical reasons. It's the first Odyssey I considered when my battery failed. Here are instructions for modifying and installing a PC535 in an '09 R1200R (mine). http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18938 T...

Re: Kill Switch

Hi, My 2009 R1200R kill switch doesn't have much of a bump. I don't use it anyway. I usually just drop the kickstand while I'm in first. I leave it in first when I park anyway. Is there a problem with this technique I should know about? Have you considered using an electronics oriented lubricating s...

Re: Tail light turned on by itself

A similar thing happens on my R. The tail light, license plate light, GPS and little small bulb in the headlamp come on. Now, I use a Yusa charger plugged into the accessory socket I wired to the battery (through a fuse block). Works without a hitch.

Re: '09 R12R Engine Protector - Wunderlich

Hi,

I owned a pair.

I had a zero-speed drop in my garage.

The cylinder head got scratched.

I replaced them with SW Motech bars.

I had a low speed drop on a gravel road.

Only the bars got scratched.

I tossed the Wunderlich bars in the trash.

Happy New Year.

famousperson,

I have the SW-Motech cylinder guards too. I use an inspection mirror and a flashlight. Works OK.

Re: Battery Question

Hi, The PC680 is too big. The PC535 can be made to fit. Here are the installation instructions: http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=18938 It looks hard, but it isn't. Mine has been running without a hitch for a little over a year. It charges from the BMW charger but in the spring, s...

Re: Installing the Odyssey PC535 in the R1200R

I have recently installed a PC 625...no case modification but iI did modify the positive terminal...The PC 625 has better specs,as I read them, the difference in the PC625 vs the PC535 is the height, about 3/4 of an inch taller There is plenty of seat base clearence although one needs to slightly m...

Re: What seat are you using on your R1200R

I bought the comfort saddle at a time when there was skepticism that it even existed (See my post Jul 05, 2009) for my 2009 R1200R. I am completely satisfied with the long (or short) ride comfort, the height, the riding position, ... . Anyone want to buy my old high bench seat?

Re: Mirrors

I ... anyone do this swap yet? Yes. As waynemathews said, "all you need are the mirrors." Is is worth the swap? You get a larger field of view, a little less vibration, and a more open feeling dingle. The bike also IMHO looks a little better. So yes. YMMV. Liam FYI, the word that somehow ...

Re: R1200R Test Drive Patch

If you're actually worried about copyright issues then here's two suggestions. For the decal, leave a hole in the space where the roundel goes, and make it the right size to fit around the gas tank or some other standard roundel. Put it on the tank (for example) and, presto, there's the decal we all...

Re: 2011 R1200R Classic: 2 cents after a 2-mile ride

mogu83,

Are the mirrors any better (coverage? looks?) on the Classic than on the '09 R12?

FYI, my guy at Max's says the tires on the Classic have tubes.

Re: Installing the Odyssey PC535 in the R1200R

Hi, My R1200R has a PC535 battery. It was installed in September 2009. It has been cranking with no noticeable change in performance since then. The bike usually starts on or before the second grunt. The battery isn't visible if the seat is on because there is a battery box. As long as the temperatu...

Re: Quandary Regarding the Purchase of a 2010 R1200R

Hi Frank, Having owned an ST1300A ('04) I can't say I'd recommend owning one for any purpose. Nothing cured the heat problem including cutting holes in the tupperware, wrapping the pipes, putting on Staintunes to get rid of the catalytic converter, enriching the fuel mixture, plugging the holes unde...

Re: Comfort seat

The photo above is actually one that I posted of my saddle a bit over a year ago. It's the tall version of the comfort saddle. I'm completely satisfied with it. It's comfortable on long rides despite my excess weight and my boney old butt.

Re: Key Stuck In Ignition

Problem is that I can't squirt anything into the slot because the key is in it. I guess I should have said " Shooting a little "Lock-Ease" ONTO the key NEAR THE slot might help this process. The oil is metalo-philic so even if only a small amount got in, it would spread out on the me...

Re: Key Stuck In Ignition

Hi, If pulling doesn't work, how about pushing. You might try giving the key a light tap on the the end between pulls. Both the mechanical impulse and the change of direction might help free up whatever is stuck. Shooting a little "Lock-Ease" into the key slot might help this process. The ...

Turning the screw clockwise, which is equivalent to the bottom of the screw moving to the left makes the damping harder.

Re: Bike won't start

Stef, If you've decided to leave it where it is until February, there are a few minimal things to do to avoid problems in the Spring. Put the bike on the center stand and, if possible, put something under the engine block so both wheels are off the ground. Over fill the tires by about five pounds. T...
