Re: High beam not working :(
^^ you are correct. I wish I had known about that much earlier. For those following along... I think I know what happened. The modulator (only runs on high beam) would sometimes work and sometimes wouldn't. I concluded that it had eventually failed altogether. I checked my Clymer manual which said t...

Re: High beam not working :(
Have you checked the fuses ? It's interesting that you ask that. I had checked the fuses several times and found no problems. Someone on advrider told me that contrary to what the manual says, the high beam is fused. After seeing his response, and since I couldn't sleep anyway, I went out to the ga...

Re: High beam not working :(
Do you have a multimeter to check for continuity of the high beam filament in the light bulb ? I do have a multimeter but I'm not sure which tab is the high beam filament. I'm sure I could figure it out though through some trial and error. Thanks for the idea! I suppose if it has no continuity, the...

Re: High beam not working :(
No, actuating the switch has no affect on it. It's always on low beam no matter the switch position.AZBMWRIDER wrote:Does the momentary position of the headlight switch turn the light on ????

Re: Clutch slipping in high gear
My bike (2004 and 53,000 miles) had the same high gear slipping issue. After a lot of research I got it torn down. Some practical tips based on my experience: 1. As others have mentioned, take lots of pics. 2. Organize, bag and label all parts and fasteners as you remove them. 3. Wipe off some of th...

High beam not working :(
I'm hoping for some advice from you fine folks... 2004 R1150R with 54,800 miles. I've had a headlight modulator on it for about 8 years. Recently there was no modulation. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Eventually it stopped altogether. While trying to figure out the cause, I removed...

Re: 2004 R1150R idles fast and runs rough
Good news!
I went home during lunch and checked the things that riceburner mentioned in this thread as well as other related air / fuel stuff. It turns out one of the airbox tubes was not completely attached to the right TB. Once I corrected that, she ran like normal again.

Re: 2004 R1150R idles fast and runs rough
sounds like one of the throttle cables has jumped out of it's little adjustment ferrule at the TB end. Thanks for your reply. By ferrule, do you mean the semi-circular plate with the groove where the cable runs? Or do you mean the cable housing has popped out of where it normally sits and is restin...

2004 R1150R idles fast and runs rough
2004 R1150R - 50,000 miles. I recently replaced the main seals, clutch, transmission input and output seals as well as the slave cylinder. I put it all together and it ran like a million bucks until I discovered that the main seal was leaking after about 100 miles. After a few hours of grumpiness I ...

Re: Replacing main seal - need BMW tools
Thanks for the response, Roy. I discovered yesterday that the price for all of those tools is approximately $656  Thank goodness for a kind and generous service manager who let me take the tools home yesterday. I had the seals installed in about 5 minutes and returned the tools to him before t...

Replacing main seal - need BMW tools
Edited to add some part number information I found on http://www.vintage-register.co.uk/post_69_tool_hire.html ~~~~~~~~~ Hello everyone! I haven't been on in I don't know how long but I'm still riding my 2004 R1150R and am still loving it. Recently I hit 50,000 miles and the clutch began slipping. I...

Re: Stubel Airhorn
I'm very interested in how you end up mounting it. The cavity under the steering head wont work for me, because I have my HID ballast in there. Speaking of which. If the PIAA lights are so expensive (I used to have a pair, they both burned out), you guys should try the HID kits. they have them in H...

Re: 2002 R1150R battery location...crappy first post
Here's my 2 cents... I agree that the easiest way to charge your battery is through the accessory plug. You will want to pick up a charger like, say, a Battery Tender. I got one from Auto Zone for about $60. I keep it hooked up to my bike via an accessory plug anytime It's in the garage. I bought th...

Thanks for all the advice and well wishes! Valve adjustment -- Disaster! Help please...
:smt010 Ok, I have adjusted my valves twice now. Each time I did them according to the "valve adjustment for dummies". This last time resulted in a kick to the groin. Here goes... My first adjustment resulted in a 'ticking' sound from the right head. I did them again last week and ...
