Here is the latest communication from Aritronix: "Greg, Yes you can connect the black wire in the GEN-1 kit to the battery negative (-) side. The 2 grey wires only cause the signals to flash and are optional. The orange wire should be connected but if not you lose all ignition triggers/features...

By wiring directly to the battery you are bypassing the CAN-BUS completely, and unless you're drawing an ungodly amount of power the R's big alternator will have no problem keeping up. basic electronic gizmo's do not pull hardly any power. Folks,
Do you know how long it usually takes for custom-spec bike to be shipped and delivered from the factory in Germany to the US?
I anticipate no availability of a black R12R with ABS/ASC/TPM combo available locally, but may be mistaken.
