WTB: R1150R rear LH peg mount bracket
I am looking for a left hand (muffler side) rear passenger peg mounting bracket only for a R1150R roadster or rockster. It does not have to be in perfect condition. If you have a spare on or know where I can find one, please contact me.

commuting of a motorcycle
I want to start using cycle more for commuting. I like to be able to monitor the traffic conditions. That way I can alter my route to avoid slow downs or accidents and such. What are some options for me to consider in the way of equipment to do this? I am thinking of satellite radio or just an mp3 p...

Scorpion mufflers questions
Does anyone have any experience with Scorpion mufflers? How do they sound? Deep tone, tinny, loud, good or bad. What is the quality of the construction? Do they discolor over time? I know there has been much discussion of mufflers not sounding good on our bikes. I test road a Moto Guzzi with their o...

Something of Interest for you Scout Fairing owners
I just recently installed the Parabellum Scout fairing on my R1150r. I read the instructions were they say you MUST remove the headlight plastic side covers. They say the covers cannot be used in conjunction with the fairing mounts. I was able to keep the covers on with the fairing installed!!! This...

Advice on speeding ticket needed
Ok, So I had a bad morning yesterday and got a speeding ticket. My head was in an angry place from a very bad prior days events. Not that that makes it right. I was not conscious of the speed limit going from 50 to 35 mph. The first ticket in over 10 years! I was doing well. What I would like to kno...

6000 mile service, what gets done, is it worth it?
What exactly gets serviced at 6000 miles. My dealer quoted me $230. he mentioned an engine oil change and throttle synk. Is that all? Should I just change my own oil and skip the throttle adjustment if it is running fine? I am considering having the break oils changed out since it is 5 years old. An...

Tire Replacement
I have some questions regarding tire replacement. At what mileage do you typically replace need to replace front vs rear? Should I stay with the original brand or are there others I should consider?

NHighCotton I think this bracket is a custom made piece, not a purchased item. You can purchase the bmw brackets if you need to relocated the bag mount for use with the full size bag. Others have also bolted on some pieces to the bag so that the original mounting point can be used. You will still ne...

It sounds like you might have the altered stock shifter from http://www.suburban-machinery.com/. I just installed a lower drivers peg kit by wunderliche I purchased from santacruz bmw. The kit is well thought out. It included some components to lower the shifter and the brake pedal. Dumb question; b...

I would spend the extra money for a gell type, or at least a sealed unit. With it being such a pain to get to the battery to service it, you don't want to have to worry about the battery. I replaced my battery on my 2002 just before winter with a gell type. I can say that it definitely holds a charg...

I don't remember the specifics, but it seems to me that the bikes with the braided steel break lines had an interference with the LT fender. I installed the LT fender on my 2002 which has regular hydraulic lines with no interference issues. I did have some challenges removing one of the screws holdi...

wncbmw Actually the crimp you see in the picture already exists on the shield. I think it is there for heal clearance or something. To mod the shield I cut the front portion to get the needed clearance. I also needed to bend the shield in the crimped area slightly outward. BTW, I used simichrome pol...

Boxer The kit with the two brackets and screws was $84.80 and the short angled pipe was $36.00. These are from Chicago BMW which includes 20% off the list prices. I also needed an addition clamp that can be purchased from bmw for apx $18.00. The heat shield if you desire it costs apx. $300 ouch!! Th...

Now posted picts of lwrd muffler&modified heat shield
For all of those who have lowered their stock exhaust. I just did this myself. I purchased only the BMW brackets and pipe. The heat shield was just TOO expensive IMHO. After some consideration I thought that possibly I could alter the stock heatshield so that the mod did not look too unfinished. I t...

Hard closing saddle bag problem; any thoughts or experience?
Has anyone ever encountered a super hard to close saddlebag? It is very hard to lock down the medal handle portion of the saddlebag onto the motorcycle. It seems to me something must be binding up, but I am not sure what it is. Just thought I would ask for some advice before I pull out the dremel to...
