Hold it full throttle with preload on the gear, when it hits the rev limiter it will drop right into the next gear. Never let up. Full throttle until you see God, then hard on the brakes!!

I also have some lower back problems. The slight lean forward seems to help. The rear spring preload and the rear shock damper are adjustable and can be set quite soft. I find the bike very comfortable.

That sounds like a leak to me. I would have it fixed asap.

Is the rockster valve clearance 0.06 and 0.012? ie the same as a r1000.

What back brake?

I wonder if rocks get lower millage? Mine is in the 40mpg range.

When is the last time you changed the oil. Take the switch out and clean it with breakclean then reinstall.

I would recomend gel cell. Had a Panasonic in my airhead with great luck. My Rockster is going on its 3rd year with the factory Exide with no problems.

I installed a exide gell cell in my /6 5 years ago and like it.
I would not install another lead acid in a bike again.
My 04 (purchased in 03) has the original Exide battery in it and is performing just fine.
