Re: If Ever I Was Tempted to Ride Squid...
In West Springfield, MA, Returning to Maine early from Bloomsburg, I was making a left at a light, one car ahead and one behind me, when a woman ran the red light and hit me broadside. Bike, bags and I went in four different directions. Temp 103 Degrees. ATGATT saved my butt! Bruised but walking. Bi...

Re: Another Windshield Option
I heard the parabellum was the way to go with the r1200. I wouldn't know, but this dude I see at the gym all the time was talking it up big time. Any word on the Parabellum?? I've got one of the standard Parabellum windshields and I like it. I have read here and believe it's true - that the best wa...

This winter we'll be lucky if we can dig out by May! But this hugger will come in handy for mud season in June.

Re: Right heated grip doesn't
On my 2007 R1200R with 30,000 miles the right hand heated grip has failed just when I need it most! Seems like it should have lasted longer (always garaged). Is it the wiring or the grip? Is it difficult to replace the grip?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: r1200r corbin saddle
I've had mine for about 4,000 of my 20,000 mi and really like it. I find it much better than stock. I'm 6' and weigh 200 lbs. One day last week I rode four hours straight without discomfort. Could probably go longer, but I like to stop and rest. The concern I had at first was sliding around on the l...

Re: How many fuel strips have you been through?
I'm on my fourth. At least this one registers but is nowhere near correct. I never rely on it. And unless it totally breaks, I'll never let them screw with it again. I've put on 20,000 miles - no other complaints (except orig. battery, of course). I think it's a great bike, and I love riding it.

Re: Skid Plate
Find pictures of peckhammers bike at the below web site. The Altrider skid plate fits exactly the same as the GS "accessory" skid plate
- it requires GS mounting hardware, I'm told.

Skid Plate
Looks like AltRider skid plate will fit on the R1200R, and it looks more rugged than the high grade accessory skid plate for the GS.

I checked them out and they have a very rugged looking skid plate. Might be worth a call.

New Transmission in '08?
The new tranny (from the HP2-S) with bigger bearings and slightly different gear ratios was put on R1200R bikes from spring 2008 one.I think build date 3/08 on... You can see if it has a cast looking like a T above the bearing where the shift mechanism attaches to the tranny.Older trannies have lik...

Re: Fuel gage fix, yet?
I'm on my third sensor. Originally "miles to empty" readings were high (around 290 when it finally settled on a # after fill up) and I ran out of fuel with 25 miles to go. Second sensor showed empty when full (w/fuel warning light on) and never changed until trip odometer was near my calcu...

Re: RIDING NAKED ... but flexible
I'm comfortable with the Parabellum that mounts to the BMW Touring frame. I added automobile door guard to the top to break the laminar flow. The windshield measures 18" from top to head light cutout. I'm 6' tall.
