Re: Range on a full tank...
Altitude, headwind and speed have an effect on mpg. I was empty on the road in Colorado with 170 miles on the trip meter. State Highway patrol bailed me out with 2 gallons of free gas!

Re: NEP / Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
Well I'm coming off a R1200RT, so I guess I'm spoiled by the luxury of a real cruise control :( I'm thinking (dreaming) of a coast to coast trip this summer, so I'm trying to gear it up for a comfortable  ride. Maybe your bike is different than mine Harry, but my throttle snaps back when I rel...

Re: NEP / Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
Bruce, Glad you got your GS handguards on =D> . I'd seen a couple notes on how to install them. Seems a bit of a challenge. Did you have to design another bracket for the right side handguard? Another question, where did you buy the handguards, and did you get a good buy? I'm learning that this RR b...

Re: NEP / Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
Oh yeah, one more thing Bruce-
What size flat head screws do you use. The smallest I could find at Lowes was #6. I would like to try something smaller if I could find it.

Re: NEP / Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
Hi Bruce, Thanks for the tip. My NEP is tight even without the lever mounted. I will try the sanding trick, and maybe your mother's waxed paper trick too. Glad you had success with yours. I think we are at about the same speed on our RR projects. I was thinking about the handguards too. Seems you go...

Re: NEP / Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
I've got no answer to your problem Ancient mariner, just company for your misery :>(. (How do you work those emoticoms?) I too have the same problem. I got as far as separating the pieces of the MEP, test fitting, cutting, test fitting. But like you, there is not enouigh clearance between the twist ...

Re: Sargent seat - about to go for it.
It's a tough choice, with all the good seats available, but today I ordered my first after market Sargent seat, because of all of the positive comments about it on this site. Went for the white welt, and carbonFX inserts. Heat too! I asked about the staples, if they now use stainless. I mentioning a...

Re: NEP / Vista Cruise Throttle Lock
Hi R1200R riders, Been lurking on this forum for a long time, gleaning useful information and quality(?) entertainment from the group for many months. Now I have some information I can contribute, just in case some of you folks don't know where to find the NEP Throttle Lock. I saw that info on the N...

Re: Do engine protection bars cause damage??
I had Hepco-Becker bars installed on my R1200R at the time of purchase. I had recently totalled my R1200RT on the Blue Ridge parkway, grinding a hole on the valve covers (both sides!) in the process. No protection on the engine at the time. Since I am anal now about engine damage in a tipover, or a ...

Re: R1200R vs. R1200RT
To answer some inqueries on my mishap on the Blue Ridge Parkway, here are some of the details. I left the BMWMOA Rally in Johnson City, TN Sunday afternoon. Traveled on the BRP to Rocky Knob camp ground. Early in the morning, before light, it started raining heavy, with lightning and crashes of thun...

Re: R1200R vs. R1200RT
When I had my '07 R1200RT, I liked the sleek(?) looks, the electrically adjustable windshield, the cruise control, the heated seat and the smooth ride. What I didn't like was the rear view mirrors, the reflection of myself in the instrument panel, and the annoyance of always scuffing the right saddl...
