Re: broken clutch actuator arm - replacement
Happy to say yes, you can change the clutch actuator arm without removing the swinging arm. Well, I have at least now removed mine and I reckon getting a replacement back on ought to be pretty much the reverse procedure. It was a bit fiddly, but not so bad once I had removed the rear wheel, shock ab...

broken clutch actuator arm - replacement
Just returned from a trip to France when I lost the clutch on my Y2000 R1100R (46,000 miles) 50 miles from home, I thought the cable had gone but discovered that the alloy actuator arm had in fact snapped. On the Motorworks website they say these are prone to failure and offer a s/s replacement whic...

Replacement stainless steel handlebar/ brake caliper bolts
My Y2K R1100R is looking a bit tatty in terms of its fasteners, namely brake caliper bolts and the four (total = 8x) that mount the (things that pass for) handlebars to the top yoke. Anyone out there got any experience of swapping out these fasteners? Any recommended suppliers? On making some initia...

gearbox output shaft oil leak
My 2000 1100R is losing oil from the oilseal around the output shaft. I understand that these can be changed without having to disassemble the bike/gearbox - i.e. just by removing the shaft drive/swingarm box. Anyone out there got any experience of doing this? If so any tips?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: 1100R Rear wheel bearing wear
Thanks - rather late, sorry!
My play turned out to be in the joint just before the bevel box. Two needle rollers replaced - like new!

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4121/4823637319_e046ef39fb_m.jpg Here's the offending hole. It's a steel blanking plug which has corroded through. Must be the result of communting back and forth over our Penine Hills between Yorkshire and Manchester over two winters. Damn. Now just got to get it out...

Re: Oil leak - Something or nothing?
Thanks for the prompt and reassuring reply Oliver. I'll report back when I've cleaned everything up and can see better what's going on. I take your point in the oil filter being a tiny bit loose, but there's absolutely no sign of any oil contamination forward of the apparent 'hole' i.e. the curve of...

Oil leak - Something or nothing?
Have to confess, I've not thoroughly investigated this yet, but after a 'spirited' ride out on my 2000 R1100R complete with my missus on the back in the company of an Aprilia Tuono and two Triumph Speed Triples I entered the garage the following morning to see a patch - not a vast puddle, of oil ben...

1100R Rear wheel bearing wear
Hi All, Anyone know anything about replacing rear wheel bearings? My 2000 R1100R (31,000 miles) has some detectable play, not much, it's difficult to measure, but I'm guessing a couple of mm. Is it a dealer job to replace them? My Haynes manual says simply that they are part of the final drive housi...
