Re: Worried about sudden battery death

If you have some time before your trip you might want to get this "Argus BB-SBM12-PS Battery Bug Battery Monitor for Motorcycles". It is a voltmeter that also gives you a battery health reading. I installed it a couple of months ago and it gives me peace of mind as far as the battery goes....

You can count me in also. And I think the patch you displayed is pretty much right on.

Re: R1200R Test Drive Patch

Mike wrote about vinyl stickers being made up. If anyone's interested this company I'm posting does that. I ordered some decals from them a couple of years back from their library and they were fine as long as I had them on. Sold the vehicle that they were on recently. I had their web site bookmarke...

Re: Why you should always wear protective gear & clean under

For those who would like to see where any accessories would touch pavement in relation to stock parts, here's something you could try. Get someone to hold the bike upright and straight from the side. Take a large enough board "sheet of plywood or similar" and slide it up till it touches bo...

Geoff, whatever you do don't do it with two legs in the air. I tried it that way and it definitely is not a pleasant experience. :P

Re: Lowering the R1200R

Like Don said, what's your inseam? I'm your height with a 30 inch inseam. I bought my bike used and it had the medium height seat. I was pretty sure I would get the low seat but after riding it I found that with the bikes low weight and low center of balance, I had no problem at stops even though I ...

Re: Soar shoulders

Jon, if you find that the seat bothers you after some time on it, you could try this fix which is inexpensive compared to a new seat. I have an air hawk with a lambskin over that and it works for me. I've been thinking of getting the comfort seat but then tell myself why fix something if " it a...

Re: Any problems mounting wndshlds W/ bar backs?

Thanks for your reply. I won't need to think about the fit now though. I ordered the set from wunderlich instead which mounts forward of the handle bars. It delivered yesterday and I installed it today. What I found after giving it a road test is, with it fully raised I'm feeling an air stream (with...

Any problems mounting wndshlds W/ bar backs?

I'm interested in knowing if the MRA VarioScreen will mount to my bike since I have the bar backs installed. I have the ones that are 1" up and 5/8" back. From what I see in the photos in the post below it looks like there's a little room at the back of the bracket to make it fit. The othe...

Bought my 2007 in the beginning of April with 1800 miles on it.
3000 miles on the odometer now = 1200 miles

Re: picked up a new r1200r today

Ed, the directional switch logic is a bit wierd, also. It's not all that weird if you think about it. The up down action of most other bikes copy the action of turn signals of autos. So that action is ingrained into your nervous system after doing it for many years. But if you never drove a car and ...

Re: What's a good throttle lock?

Ka5ysy, I just bought a used K unit this afternoon. Rode 60 miles home with it installed and am happy as a clam with it. Thanks anyway. Additions installed since getting my R12 this past April; Talon brackets w/ running lights, additional LED tail and brake light, Bar backs and throttle lock. Next o...

Fredr, here's another slant on a R12 water bike. A surf board model. I can give you the idea but an engineer would be needed to make it all come together. The vehicle would be the R12 with a half surf board mounted above the tail rack at an angle of 45 deg. To enter the water would necessitate a mov...

Re: What's a good throttle lock?

Bruce, you've got to me kidding me. I'd have to enroll in a course in aeronautical engineering at MIT to accomplish that. Just kidding  , that looks like something I could accomplish. But I'm drawn toward the throttlemiester, kaoko style unit. I will get that page of the Suz. unit and bookmark ...

Thanks all for your replies =D> . I now am able to make a clear choice. It always feels good to get off the fence after you've been sitting there scratching your head on which way to go. I'm going with the K since two of you had used both and found it somewhat easier to apply with one hand. Don E, i...

What's a good throttle lock?

I've seen two "Kaoko and throttlemiester" in a search. If there's anyone out there who has had the chance to use both, or knows of a plus or minus one has over the other, I'd appreciate their input. I'm looking for function since in the looks department I'd be satisfied with either one. Al...

Frede,

I haven't had to go into my headlight but as far as I know BMW ground wires are brown. I read that on someone's post and when I went into my tail light, found that to be true.

Re: BMW Comfort Saddle or Corbin Follow-up

nixdsg asked: So does the low comfort seat move you forward or back?? I'm on the smallish side (5'6") and can't afford to have my butt move back any further then it currently is with the stock low seat. Nic, I think before you consider the low comfort seat you should sit on the standard seat. F...
