Re: Aerostich Roadcrafter... Reg vs. Light
Thanks, guys. Re: Rev'It Air - love it! It's a great compliment to my Sand jacket - virtually all mesh, so it flows a ton of air, but absolutely no water protection whatsoever - no liner. It's a great day-riding jacket, and fits me perfectly. I'd definitely recommend it. As an aside: I was a complet...

Aerostich Roadcrafter... Reg vs. Light
I'm thinking of going over to the Dark Side and getting a Roadcrafter suit. Already have a couple 2-piece combos (Rev'It Sand j&p, and Rev'It Air + Rotor pants). Do I NEED another riding outfit? Probably not, but when has that stopped me. Question: Opinions on RC vs. RC Light? Specifically - how...

Love the Air jacket! It breathes nicely - a little moreso now in the left elbow area.
But I would receommend it. Mine will just have a little character now, I guess.

Re: Gear repair question.... Burned textile jacket. #%+&$!
Yeah, I'm planning on asking my cleaners for a recommendation. Also going to touch base with the dealer as well. Heard of a place in Seattle that repairs gore-Tex, but I'd rather have it done locally if possible to avoid the shipping delays and all. I just friggin hate it when I think, "you kno...

Gear repair question.... Burned textile jacket. #%+&$!!!
Rode The Dragon twice this weekend, and left nothing for the Tree of Shame, thank goodness. However, I pulled a real bonehead move when I got back. Instead of waiting for the bike to cool, I went ahead and put the lock on the front wheel and managed to burn (melt, actually) a hole in my Rev'It Air j...

Re: Bike dies when handlebars turned to the right.
Well, I got the wire from the dealer, installed it, and all is well. Put about 600 mi on it this weekend, including 2 runs on The Dragon. So far, so good.
... But i have another issue I'm going to ask about separately.

Re: Wiring assistance needed...
LOL! Oh, I'm not absolutely positive i didn't mess something else up in the process! ha ha. Before I found the article about the set-screw, I was all ready to try to pry the damned thing out with a screwdriver. Luckily, I had at least a little sense and said to myself, "Why don't I stop until I...

Re: Wiring assistance needed...
Got it. After a bunch of Internet searching, I discovered the set-screw under the red loc-tite. Loosened it and the ignition/light switch came right out. But like a dumba$$, I just had to take it apart. Didn't realize there were a bunch of springs and loose parts in there. #-o No idea how to put it ...

Wiring assistance needed...
OK... so I am pretty sure I finally figured out which wire on my front-end is causing the bike to completely lose power when the handlebars are turned to the right. After several lapses of logic and pure wild goose chases, I think it is the wire that attaches to the center of the... oh, hell... see ...

Re: Bike dies when handlebars turned to the right.
Well, that wasn't it either. #-o But at least I figure that out before getting it apart. However, I'm pretty sure I did find the problem. It seems to be a wire that connects to a relay down near the horn. But, it's pouring friggin cats & dogs now, so I've got everything covered up while I'm wait...

Re: Bike dies when handlebars turned to the right.
Making headway! Good news, bad news: it isn't in the right wiring bundle. I replugged it, moved it all around - each wire - and couldn't reproduce the problem (yes, just like removing the key). On a whim, I moved the handlebars and was able to make it happen again. Started clipping zip ties for the ...

Re: Bike dies when handlebars turned to the right.
Will do. At first inspection, all the wires look fine. No obvious cuts, abrasions, or overly sharp kinks. Guess the next thing to do is re-plug the harness and start wiggling individual wires. No one out there knows exactly which ones (of the 8 or so) actually have to do with the ignition, do you? I...

Re: Bike dies when handlebars turned to the right.
Well, for better or worse, I got the tank unbolted and shifted back enough to get to the wiring harness. Disconnected the harness and now have the entire housing/wires/harness assembly off. Guess there's not much else to do but take off the black covering and see if I can find bare or broken wires. ...

Bike dies when handlebars turned to the right.
'04 R1150R Looks like I've got a short in the kill-switch wire somewhere. At least that's my best guess at this point. Before I start taking things apart, I figured I'd prevail upon the wisdom of the more knowledgeable and see if there was any generic or specific advice on where to start first, how ...

Re: Warm Weather Riding Jacket
Just got a Rev'It Air, myself. I have a full Rev'It Sand suit - jacket & pants - that I wear most of the time. But I was looking for something with more mesh for around-town stop-and-go traffic. I've worn the Sand getup on a couple of all-day rides here in NC, and it does a great job of venting ...

Lake Lure, NC & vicinity - from Charlotte
I had the opportunity to do a great day-ride from Charlotte today. Perfect weather, and a pretty good route with a nice mix of roads. Had a couple points of unplanned excitement, but neither resulted in more than a marked increase in heart-rate, thank goodness. More on that later. Here was the route...

Re: Riding shoes. Boots. Whatever
I do consulting work, and when I have the opportunity to ride the bike to a client I just carry a pair of shoes in my topcase along with my laptop. I just stash my boots along with my pants, jacket, and helmet somewhere out of the way in my office or an empty conference room. The bigger challenge fo...

Isn't it great?! It's gonna be 80 and sunny here in NC tomorrow.
Did a bunch of work and errands today so I can hopefully head west for a bit tomorrow.
Enjoy & ride safe.

Re: seat
I've got the Sargent for my bike, and really like it. It is a little over an inch taller than the standard, which changes the ergonomics a bit, but it is MUCH more comfortable than the standard seat. I could instantly tell the difference, and can ride much further without getting "saddle sore&q...

Re: Major Failure Poll
Man, I hope I'm not jinxing this... but I've had no major failures to date. My bike is an '04 with about 18.5K on it. I've had it for about a year and 3.5K. The electrical wire wraps have cracked, and just last night I re-wrapped what I could with Magic Wrap. Have changed the oil on it twice; did th...
