Re: Questions from a prospective buyer

Hi zend,

I know it is an old thread... anyway:
Did you get your ASC in the meantime?
Because mine was available and installed ~2month ago. Including switch. And it works ;-)

Re: Dark white / Light white

Dark White is the name of the model, not the color. Because everything is blacked and greyed out except the white parts.
The color (Farbschluessel) of the R1200R Dark White model is called Light White Uni.

Re: Sport Screen vs no screen

PaulLP,

sure, I'm 6-01.
The sport screen seemed to direct to wind directly
to the bottom of my helmet.
Not only was there buffeting, but also the wind noise was strong.
Both is much better without screen
-for me anyway; of course every rider is unique.

Re: Sport Screen vs no screen

For me, it is best to drive the bike without any screen. My observattion is that it gives the least buffeting. For some reason, you do not miss or need a windscreen on this bike, even at a 100mph. I had the sport screen in the beginning, and had a lot of wind buffeting, and wind noise. It is much be...

Re: Questions from a prospective buyer

Hi zend, I have an 2014 R1200R white, too. It came with ESA, but no ASC. You can definitely retrofit the ASC. Not cheap though ;) One button has to be added, and the SW has to be downloaded and installed. SW download can only be done by a dealer. The dealer gets a one time code from BMW and can down...

Re: Buying Fuel in the US

Regarding zip code usage for foreign country credit cards: I had visitors from Germany and we tried using a german credit card at gas stations. Using the german zip code worked fine. Germany also has 5 digit zip codes, same as US. Of course I do not know if it works for ALL german credit cards. (Sor...

Re: What seat are you using on your R1200R

BMW Comfort seat (800mm seat height): Compared to the stock saet, this seat is just perfect (for me). Also during long trips (whole days/weeks), there is nothing to complain about.

Re: 2011 Classic Eyeballed

On the official pictures released by BMW it says "Tubeless" on the tires. See here: https://mediapool.bmwgroup.com/mediapool/econtroller/pressclub/publicq?actEvent=high&dokNo=P90065666 (On the rear tire you can read "tubeless".) It would be surprising if BMW would come out wi...

Re: R1200R Long Distance Impressions

In March this year I did a trip from Huntsville, AL, to Key West, FL. (~2500 miles). (I did it in 8 days because I wanted to include some sightseeing.) Bike: R1200R, stock seat and the small BMW sport windscreen, BMW sidecase luggage. The Bike drove just great, no problems during the trip. It consum...
