Re: My new old bike
Ha! I used to own one in the sixties How do you like the Earles fork (could never get used to it) Sounds like a treasure Rags You're really jogging my memory now. I remember the odd feeling of the front end rising when I applied the front brake. The bike replaced an R27 which also had Earles forks....

Re: My new old bike
Great post. I currently own a 2004 R1150r with 37K on the odometer, bought it 4 years ago after the kids moved out. Love the bike! Back in 1986 sold my 1966 R50. I purchased the bike used in 1968 and sold it in 1986 with 128K on it. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures. Enjoy the ride.

Re: R1150R Suspension Adjust/Seat Height
I might be bringing up an old discussion but would anyone know if I can lower the suspension to any great degree? The seat height I have leaves me leaning to one side or another when coming to a stop. If there is no adjustment, is there a lower seat I can install? The seat I have is a Sargent seat ...

Re: About to buy R1150r
I rode it.I like it. I have 1 concern. When I applyed the rear brake only at about 15 mph the whole bike seems to shift in the rear.It kinda scared me having this response. Is this normal because of the shaft drive? I have a Yamaha FJR 1300 with shaft drive and when I hit just the rear brake it did...

Re: Neutral when shifting first to second
I've found that holding the shift lever up while releasing the clutch solves the problem. My concern was that I seemed to be getting more consistent missed shifts. I was wondering if there was an adjustment or different viscosity transmission lub that would solve the problem.

Neutral when shifting first to second
2004 R1150R 28K. When I shift from 1st to 2nd the transmission lands in neutral about 50% of the time. I've tried preloading the shift lever with the same result. I can avoid neutral if I hold the shift lever in the up position as I release the clutch. I've tried varying amounts of clutch disengagem...

Re: R1150R Hard starting
Well here's an update. Rode the bike back to the dealer and got caught in a monsoon thunder storm. Didn't want to stop and seek shelter because of the uncertainty of restarting .Finally got to the dealership and was able to duplicate the problem. Three days later got the call that the bike was repai...

Re: R1150R Hard starting
i have tried to start it both with and without the cold start lever. Playing with the throttle seemed to be more effective. The last time I started it I used ether after playing with the cold start lever and the throttle and it started right up. I then rode it back to the dealer where it is now.

Re: R1150R Hard starting
Mike,
Thanks for the info. The bike runs very well once it is started, no hesitation or surging and is smooth all the way up to the redline. When you had the problem did you experience anything similar?
Glenn

R1150R Hard starting
R1150R 27K. I had the 24K service completed. Prior to the service the bike was difficult to start and ran rough, stalled when down shifting and occaisionally stalled when starting from a complete stop or pause and go. At the service they repaced one of the primary coils. The bike ran better but not ...

Re: Rear tire locked up while riding.
I had the same problem when downshifting to a stop. I didn't realize the bike had stalled until I looked down saw the red lights had come on. This happened on more than one occaision. I thought that there was a short in the kill switch or the side stand. I raised the idle up to about 1100RPM and hav...

Re: Bike Stalls
The bike has 21K on the odometer. It was last serviced at 18.5K. I use the bike daily and gas up at a busy local station with no history of water problems. I have run a fuel injector cleaner. The problem is intermittant. One day it runs perfectly, the next who knows. Sometimes it will stall just onc...

Re: Bike cut out
On a ride today while approaching a red light, as I was down shifting (blipping the throttle), the bike suddenly cut out. With traffic rushing up behind, I quickly found netural and restarted the engine and carried on. Anyone have any idea what my have caused this? This is the first time this has e...
