Calling UK 06-11 owners. advice on SW-Motech quick-lok
Hi I've just pulled the trigger on the SW Motech side carrier frames for my 09 R1200R. Looking at the installation instructions, there are 4 quick-lok attachment points for the carriers, one of which is on a U shaped metal bar that attaches to the license plate holder. However, the diagram looks lik...

Re: hepco& becker luggage and shearing bolts
MT Beemer did you use the quick-lok pannier frames? if so, was the adapter kit for the H&B panniers part number KFT 00.152.111? I'm not sure what you mean by Zeus fittings, I assumed the pannier frames came off, leaving only the mounting plate. Is this not so? Lost Rider - thanks for confirming ...

Re: hepco& becker luggage and shearing bolts
Lost rider thought about that the first time they sheared. the problem is that the mounting screws go into a small rectangle of metal that is welded to the frame underneath the rear light housing ( I had the whole rear end off to find this). The rectangle is about 1cm wide and appears to have what l...

Re: hepco& becker luggage and shearing bolts
thanks guys, just searching for a machine shop nearby to drill out the sheared bolts and rethread the slots and then I'll give your suggestions a go. I like the look of the SW Motech mounts, they just seem a more solid design.
Thanks
Brendan

Re: hepco& becker luggage and shearing bolts
The first set that sheared were the original H&B bolts, the second lot were purchased from screwFix, a wholesale trade dealer.
I confess to not knowing what a Grade 8 bolt is :-(

Re: Rizoma mirror thread size
hey lost rider thanks for the pointer, but unfortunately that thread didn't help. Lots of pictures and discussion of bar end bolts, and how to fit F800GS mirrors but nothing on the R1200R mirror thread size. I need that so i can tell the dealer what I have so he can suggest the correct Rizoma mirror...

Rizoma mirror thread size
Hi folks Just bought some lovely Rizoma naked radial mirrors as they're being discontinued so got a reasonable deal. However the rizoma mirror adapter kit BS711A doesn't work on my 09 R1200R as the bolt threads for the adapter kit don't match the bolt thread on the R1200R mirror mount. Can anyone te...

Re: R12R Luggage re-think
Mike
yes, the rear rack can be mounted on it's own, but you have to have the rear rack on to mount the pannier racks. They are a quick-lok type and can be removed easily if you don't want them on the bike when the panniers are not mounted. You can buy locking nuts for the pannier rack.

Re: R12R Luggage re-think
Mike the H&B gear is lighter than BMW cases, can't compare to any others. For road use they are fine, that picture was taken at Honigsvag in Norway on the way back from a 2350 mile trip to Norway's North Cape. Lasted the 2350 miles back home to Edinburgh no problem. Cases are strong, inner bags ...

plenty of room for the passenger, sat up there myself while on a ferry crossing, and confirmed by partner when I got back. Did the photo ever get to you in the end?

Re: Aluminum Panniers
Mark emailed you a pic. In addition to the top box and panniers, you need a compatible rear luggage rack and frames to mount the top box and panniers on. I got the H&B frames and rear rack pretty cheap on ebay, otherwise they add about the same cost as the panniers to the total bill. cheers Bren...
