Re: Booster Plug

I left the Booster Plug on at my last service. No issues with the BMW service manager.

Re: Booster Plug

My mpg has always been in the 48-51 range after almost 2yrs with the booster plug. Something is up with your bike or riding style. Bike just got serviced.......so all good there! Yes my riding style has everything to do with my fuel economy. To be honest, I dont give rats about how much fuel I use,...

Re: Booster Plug

I have had my booster plug hooked in for 9 months now and I can easily state that my fuel consumption ranges 40-46 MPG, which is also the range I had prior to installing the booster plug. I would suggest individual riding styles on the day has more of an effect on fuel consumption than the plug has....

Tint/Dye Standard Sportshield

Interested to know if any R1200R riders have successfully tinted/dyed the standard sport shield on their bike and if so, the products and process so applied. Looking for a dark grey finish.
Cheers.

Re: Gnu Member

Sdavidp: I have a booster plug on my r1200r. The install is very easy, I have posted elsewhere on this forum concerning this. I have a service coming up in three weeks time, so will be pulling the plug off for service purposes. With this, I intend to take some photos to add to my previous forum post...

Re: new guy already needs help!

I did exactly the same thing when I first started to cover my bike with a tarp. When I first did it I spent hours trying to clean it off, only to learn this was a futile exercise. The intense heat from the headers eventually incinerated all the burnt on plastic and the pipes returned to their natura...

Re: Still waiting.......

Dont sweat it, the bike will come! From placing a deposit to getting my hands on my bike, it took six months. I was told all sorts from the dealer, but the truth is, they had very little influence on the shipping decisions made by BMW Germany. My bike was due early March 2011, then late March, then ...

Re: BOOSTER PLUG

It was easy enough to purchase and ship direct from the manufacturer at the price listed on the website, and that was to OZ.
I previously posted some installation instructions concerning the plug here;

Re: Fuel Strip Failure - interesting thread..

(wonder if the "Booster Plug" which changes the readout from that sensor has any effect on level readings?..) The Booster Plug doesnot appear to have had any effect on the fuel level readings on my bike. I dont think I will ever trust the fuel strip and work on odometer reading to next fi...

Re: R1200R vs F800R

Originally, my heart and mind was set on the F800R. I couldnt wait for it to be released. Throughout the waiting period I tested all sorts of bikes. I kept glancing at R1200R on the net and discounting it as a credible alternative based mainly on size relative to purpose. But I liked it for many oth...

Booster Plug

UPDATED 2.2.12. Added assembly drawings and references. Hope it helps. Torrential rain here, so not in a position to undo fairings and take happy snaps! Recently installed a BoosterPlug on my 2011 R1200R. Some comments for forum members interested in installing one. 1. It takes more than 10 minutes...

Re: 2011 leaking fork seals anyone?

Thats what my dealer advised also. I have now more like a slight film smear on my fork tubes vs. lots of oil. I also get a noticeable scum ring forming at the top of the compressed fork tubes, which reappears after washing. I am sure if the oil was not leaking (as it shouldnt!) and acting as a bind...

Re: exhaust

UPDATE! New Akrapovic for the 2011 R1200R now installed I didn't mind the tone of the standard can. Also it wasn't too bad looking, albeit quite round and fat. I got used to it. BUT place it in a direct comparison with the new Akrapovic and well, this new can is sweet music to my ears! Not cheap bu...

Re: 2011 leaking fork seals anyone?

....They pulled the dust covers and said all was OK with the seals inspite of some energetic pumping of the front end. Their take on the oil was that some might have leaked past the seals whilst the bike was strapped down for shipping and had now been blown past the dust caps. I will keep a check o...

Re: 2011 R1200R with ESA?

In Australia all the bikes imported are fully optioned ABS, ESA etc. and to be honest if I had a choice the bike would have been purchased fully optioned as it was. The ESA is useful if you carry gear or passengers as I do. Plus the suspension modes add that little bit extra to the biking experience...
