I think thats the same idea as riceburner only he used a plastic chopping board. I copied his method and it works for me. I'm over here in N.Ireland, just outside Belfast. I have an 03 r1150r. Am in Scotland so not ideal!
Have you got a photo of how you've attached the top box. I eventually got an aluminium plate made which i screwed to the rack then bottled the universal plate to that. Works fine but it would be interesting to see how you did it.

Hi Got my 02 r1150rt 6 weeks ago and just wondered if it's normal to feel as if the engine is missing slightly above 70mph. Can't decide if this is wind effect or engine issue.
