Re: Loss of Acceleration R1150RA

thanks for the speedy response. basically, i'm trying to accelerate, whether its from a stop or shifting gears, and the bike responds, but very slowly. where as i use to be able to get out in front of traffic from a light, or speed onto the highway from the on-ramp, the bike is slow to pick up its p...

Loss of Acceleration R1150RA

I've been having a loss of acceleration or very slow acceleration lately. I'll throttle back and the RPMs will rise, but it takes a few seconds for the engine to catch up. the bikes a 2004 R1150RA with about 17500 miles on it. I've replaced the stick coils, spark plugs, MCU all in the past 18 months...

Re: Stick Coil Diagnoses

i had mine replaced and i still had no spark on the right side. It turned out that my MCU (Motronic Control Unit) was fried. I found a new one on Beemrboneyard and plugged it in, working fine now. This was the second time and the second MCU to go down on my 2004 R1150RA. The dealer mechanic seemed t...

Re: Motronic Control Unit Failure, please help

Thanks John. I was also thinking about picking up a copy of the 204 R1150R repair manual and also replacing my starter, which is starting to sound squeaky.

Motronic Control Unit Failure, please help

While working in Israel, in 2008 my gear box on my '04 R1150R collapsed, after only about 7500 miles, allegedly caused by "half-clutching". I had the gearbox rebuilt. When I picked up the bike form the Tel Aviv BMW bike dealer, it ran for 12 inches and stopped. Perplexed, what I'm assuming...

Riding to the Red Sea

The weather's finally felt like spring time here, so my buddies and I decided to take a ride down to the Sinai Peninsula or the Gulf of Aqaba, depending upon which of the 4 countries you're actually in when looking at the Red Sea. 200 miles south of Jerusalem; Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Egypt ...

Riding in a Dust Storm

 Following a loooong day at work in Jerusalem, I decided to unwind by going to the gym. Parking on the side walk in front of the gym, as Israelis tend to do, I rolled up upon two locals getting off a scooter, gawking at my bike and muttering something in hebrew. I informed them that I don;t s...

:D I haven't had any problems riding the R at low altitudes. Jerusalem is on top of a mountain and I try and take opportunities to ride down to Tel Aviv and the coast when I get a chance, so I'm constantly running up and down the hill. The roads as I said are covered ina slight film of dust and grim...

Thanks for the info. I went with photobucket. Quick, easy and painless. I plan on riding around a bit, so I'll have more photos to add.

Riding to the Dead Sea

The phone woke me up this morning which was not an easy thing to do. I had spent most of last night celebrating my mediocre dodgeball performance in an after-hours round-robin tournament with about 30 colleagues to include some local nationals. Following the game, I went to my neighbors apartment to...

Help; Bike stalled and is making clicking noises

 Received my 2004 R1150R after it spent 2 months in a crate during shipment from NY to Israel. The safety buckle that had been strapped over the seat must have been too tight as it tore a hole. Than I gassed up the bike, turned it on and off to get some fuel pumped through and was able to start...

I didn't even catch that. The part is a plastic cap and I believe has a twin cap on the left side of the bike (though I haven't seen my bike or any like it sonce I arrived 2 months ago). Is this part vital? It didn't seem to be damaged, just loose. :?:

The bike itself was crated separately from my other household effects and the ratchet straps were placed over the seat and just behind the handlebars. The crate seemed sturdy enough and was especially for bikes as it had a track for the wheels to roll into. I'll let you know how it goes and send som...

bike concerns after shipment

I recently moved to Israel for work and shipped my r1150r with my household goods. It should arrive in port next week. In order to empty the fuel before shipment I basically ran it dry. The next morning, i noticed that a black plastic cap fell off on the right side of the engine (less than 2 inches ...
