thanks everyone. feels good to be on this bike again!

Running! water in tank for sure. still a bit wonkey at atart up and at idle. any suggestions on fuel additive to neutralize any water remaining in tank?

i'm thinking bad gas too. why? last week i dumped all the gas out the tank into a gas can. i took that gas and put it into my /5 . rode that bike a while and wouldn't start last sunday , after checking the float bowls there was water in the gas. ok. it fired up but running really rough and one cylinder keeps cutting out. Fresh gas. it keeps dying. ??? had a lot of steam coming out (it sat all winter and hasn't run in 6 months) -valves? -plugs? -hall sensor? (as suggested by local BMW mechanic) really want to find out myself what's wrong bef...

-all lights coming on
-starter turns over
-fuel pump is coming on (i can hear it)
-i have spark (but seems weak)

i will check kill switch, and test horn and voltage on battery

I too. like Johno, lost control off my '04 last fall. bike slid for like 20 yards, right in front of my house! only damage to bike is a badly scuffed/scratched valve cover and left rear turn signal broke off. i know, i know i should have bought valve cover guards, well now, i have them! so i can charge the battery with terminal that are behind the starter cover? i don't have book for it yet, but i heard from someone that i can do that. i have a 1amp charger and will use that. thanks.

ok. so i bought this bike in June. The battery is new-a gel battery, installed by the dealer (BMW of course - jeez). anyway. do i have to treat this battery any different than more traditional/oler batteries. As you know the battery is located under the gas tank. i don't currently have one of those ...

I'm thinkig about installing a "Scout" windsheild, by Parabellum on my 04 R1150R. Anyone have any thoughts on this product? I'm tryong to set the bike up for touring. Thanks
