Re: '94 R1100RS new to me advise

Hi Barnby, I have no knowledge of the concerns you're raising but you're in the right place to find things out. Have a trawl through the entries here and you'll pick up some great advice. You may not get many detailed replies about regular upkeep as it's already been covered so many times in here ov...

Re: 1000 Miles on First BMW - More Random Thoughts on my R11

Crampbuster mod: On journeys over 250 miles or so the vibes were feeding through to the heel of my hand so a small piece of sealed foam (camping mat offcut ) glued to the tab/lever made a big difference. also it's good to wind it forwards out of the way when mainly in town then your hand heel won't ...

Re: Want to buy a R1100R

Hello Johan I agree about the cramped leg position due to relationship of seat & pegs. But you can get accustomed to it ( and the seat is adjustable to some degree). However, as you are tall then the GS model seems the obvious choice. With extra ground clearance and more accessory options, you s...

Re: Z6 worn out at rear - mix tyres?

some good advice under "best tyre for 1997 1100r" thread back in april-may. Regarding mixing brands, as each tyre does a different job anyway ( front & rear ) unlike car tyres (that should not be mixed across axles) perhaps you can mix brands. I am no expert, but it would be good to fi...

Re: Gas Mileage?

Hi Phil, 45 to 48 mpg on my 35,000 mile 1997 1100r here in the UK on mixed roads. Good luck with your tweaking - will you keep us informed of your progress, it's always handy to know the deciding factor(s) to good running.

Re: BATTERY OR STARTER MOTOR ISSUES

If you have tackled your battery it may be worth a look at your s/motor. My old R1100R had starting probs & everything pointed to the battery BUT the magnets in the s/motor had become unglued and were Jamming the rotation of the s/motor intermittently. New s/motor sorted it out and cured my ABS ...

Re: Insurance Recommendation in the UK?

David, i realise you have now chosen your insurer but for other people picking up on this thread I thought I'd recommend ebike insurers. I have stayed with them for 3 years now ( doing a comparison each year to verify price & features elsewhere). The F Comp policy gives European roadside & r...

Re: New Member - Older Bike - So may Questions!

Hi ED, on my 1100r the battery can be charged via the accessory socket. have a search for chargers & with bmw plug and life becomes much simpler.
