Re: 2014 R1200R wethead ?
I rode the GSW at my dealership for about 200 miles in all kinds of traffic. Whoever said that the new wethead has no low end grunt was not riding a wethead. The engine has a lot of available torque in all gears. Cruising at 75 and rolling on the power gives instant acceleration without a downshift....

Re: R1200R, Slow Seep, U-Turns, Clutch and Clunk
I teach MSF, ride a R1200R now, and do the U-turns on my R with no problem. There are different ways to do it. What works for me is: Get the speed up, counter weight, pull in the clutch, monster head turn, initiate turn as you pull in the clutch, carry speed through the turn. If more speed is neede...

Re: fuseblock trigger wire woes
On thing to be aware of using the accessory plug as a trigger voltage source: If you happen to use one of the float chargers that talks to the canbus, the accessory line will stay powered up and the fuseblock triggered keeping all accessories powered up. FWIW, I have a phobia about using any kind of...

Re: Seat change = handling change? R1200R 2012
Alex, I would venture a guess that your slight forward lean has resulted in your arms being bent a bit more when on the bars. This will give you a more relaxed feel to the controls. We tell students to lean forward and bend their arms all the time. The result is pretty much instant improvement to th...

Re: Range of Motion & Oversized Rearview Mirrors
Best solution I have found are these stick-on wide angles, at $5 each in most car parts stores.

Re: Saved (again) by SW MoTech
Your experience is why I put the MoTech's on my old RR. Just before I traded it, I ran across the case protection bars for the RT's made by Wunderlich. They advised that they would not work with the RR, but the rear frame appeared to be almost identical. I did not get a chance to try mounting them b...

Re: Traded my R1200R
Congratulations Ron ! As much as I loved my 2007 RR, I was seduced by the 2011 RT I got to ride while the RR was in for the 24000 mile maintenance. You are going to absolutely love the RT's wind and weather protection. The handling is very crisp so you probably will not miss the RR much either. Oh.....

Re: Change to GS?
Hi Mike: Since you are looking for something else, by all means try the RT. Remember that the RR is an "RT-Lite". I had the 07 RR (release day bike at my dealer in October 2006), and loved it. Like a lot of us, I spent a lot of $$ on seat and windscreens etc. plus bags and topcase. Then I ...

Re: Is synthetic oil a bad idea early on?
Short answer: NO. The main reason not to use full synthetic in the break-in period is that you are dumping the stuff out on short mileage, and it is better to use cheap dinosaur oil. The engine does not know or care about what oil type is in it other than you should use the specified API rating. man...

I fixed my problem with the rubber on the pegs tearing up. Bought the RT. Problem solved.

Re: For 2013, BMW kills the best R12R colors
Looks like they are sharing paint colors with the Tri-Color RT scheme: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n15/ka5ysy/R1200RT2012color.jpg FWIW, I took one of the cases out to my Platinum Bronze Metallic X5 for comparison, and the color is almost identical. It is actually a nice color. The RR paint l...

Re: Considering the R1200R. A few Questions
Mike and Ion; Thanks for the insight. It seems you folks are passionate about the R1200R. With the cylinders sticking out, isn't all the heat transferred to the rider's legs ? It seems in summer, your legs would be toast !!! No ?? It's not a Harley !!! =D> BTW: Read my signature line. Take heed !
