Plug replacement
Replaced the original NGK plugs with Auto Lite 3923's today. I have a 2002 R1150R with 19,000 miles (second owner). Now there is no surge at the magical 3000 rpm. Now I will wait to see if the Mpgs changes.

Re: Which R to buy??
I had the same dilemma. I went with the '02 with lower miles and that let's me build my own " history" with the bike. I probably paid a bit more from the dealer, but I am real happy with my Beemer. No surge through the gears and over 40mpg around town. Oh and it is black. It makes you look...

Split handle grips
I have a new to me 2002 R1150R with heated grips. The rubber is split across the ridges. I have tried super glueing the cut, but it doesn't stay repaired for long. Can the rubber grips be replaced or is there an after market slip on grip that will work. My dealer says I need to replace the heated gr...

Re: Air filter access
Got around to changing the air filter finally. I ended up lifting the tank slightly to r & r. Thanks to sweatmark's video it was a breeze. I didn't even have any left over screws.

Re: Air filter access
Thanks Kirby. I do intend to put a K&N filter in. I tried getting the stock one out, but it was to tight a fit.

Air filter access
I am sure this has been brought up many times, I just can't seem to find the topic. Does the fuel tank need to be removed or can it be lifted in the back to get to the air filter. It seems every Beemer I have had makes the filter and battery hard to get too, but I wouldn't have any other.

Wiring a Astra top case
I picked up my 2002 R1150R and it came with an Astra topcase. The wires from the case were just loose under the seat. Any ideas on how to connect them? Thanks for any tips.

Re: Hello from a new member.
Picked up the R1150R today and I must say I am really impressed, much better than the R1200C I traded. Foothills BMW in Denver was really great about the trade. Coming down I-25 was great, no vibration and good wind protection. I hope to get many good miles on it.

Re: Hello from a new member.
Thanks for the good tips. I am going to pick up the bike Friday. I was going to change the fluids and check the tie raps.I will ask about the quick disconnects at the dealer. I am not sure about servicing the brake fluid because that is something I have never done.

Hello from a new member.
I am a long time Beemer rider and I am picking up a low mileage R1150R non-ABS, (2002). Is there anything I should be wary of with this model. I have owned R1100R's and really enjoyed them. Thank you for any info.
